Here, we take a look at some of the biggest names in entertainment getting some more air time in front of millions of fans around the world.
5. Muhammed Ali – WrestleMania I
Muhammed Ali is arguably the greatest boxer to ever step inside the ring. He thrilled the thousands of fans in attendance at the frst ever WrestleMania at Madison Square Garden in New York when he appeared as the special guest referee in the main event that saw Hulk Hogan and Mr T tag with each other against Mr Wonderful Paul Orndorff and Roddy Piper. Ali was the outside official for this match and he almost got physically involved when he aimed a punch at Cowboy Bob Orton. Luckily for ‘Ace’, Ali did not connect.
4. Floyd Mayweather – WrestleMania XXIV
Some people might disagree with what I put about Ali being the greatest ever boxer, because some people think this next special guest was the best. Ali and Floyd Mayweather were amazing talents in the ring, but they were from different eras and fighting at different weights so it’s impossible to make the comparison. Mayweather got in the ring at Mania against the Big Show after he broke Show’s nose at No Way Out when he jumped in the ring to save his friend Rey Mysterio. This no disqualification match ended when Mayweather hit Big Show with brass knuckles to get the 10 count.
3. Donald Trump – WrestleMania 23
Yes, the now President of the United States of America took centre stage at WrestleMania 32. It’s no secret that Trump and Vince McMahon have a personal relationship outside the ring, but this didn’t come across in the Mania segment. Trump was assigned to be in Bobby Lashley’s corner with McMahon with Umaga. The stipulation for this match meant that the loser between Trump and McMahon had to have their head shaved bald. Lashley beat Umaga, meaning Trump got to shave McMahon’s head live at Ford Field in Detroit, Michigan.
2. Shaquille O’Neal – WrestleMania 32
Shaquille O’Neal is one of the biggest namhttps://youtu.be/sij25UyDwroes in the world of basketball and he is a massive fan of the WWE. Shaq has appeared on Monday Night Raw on a number of occasions in the past, but he managed to make it to Mania as part of the Andre the Giant Memorial Battle Royal. Shaq had had run-ins with the Big Show in the past and they squared up against each other before giving Kane a double chokeslam.
1. Rob Gronkowski – WrestleMania 33
In 2017, the pre-show at WrestleMania 33 saw the Andre the Giant Memorial Battle Royal take place. At ringside, New England Patriots tight end Rob Gronkowski was watching the action. Jinder Mahal threw Gronkowski’s friend Mojo Rawley into the barricades outside the ring and then threw a drink over the Super Bowl winner. Gronkowski took offence to that and climbed over to get in the ring – the funny thing is that a security guard didn’t look like she had been briefed about what was happening and tried to stop Gronkowski getting in the ring. He eventually got in the ring and hit Mahal with a shoulder tackle. This allowed Rawley to eliminate Killian Dain and Mahal to win the Battle Royal.
