UFC 291 Dustin Poirier v Justin Gaethje II Betting Tips & Predictions
Two former UFC interim lightweight champions will meet again in the Octagon as both Dustin Poirier and Justin Gaethje look to move a step closer to a title shot.
Poirier is ranked number two in the lightweight division with Gaethje ranked at three. No lightweight title will be on the line, but the BMF belt will be on the line.
These two met back in 2018 with Poirier claiming a fourth-round stoppage win, and he will be looking for a similar outcome.
Poirier has a professional record of 37 fights, 29 wins, seven losses and one no contest. The Diamond has lost two of his last 12 fights – with both of them being UFC lightweight title fights against Khabib Nurmagomedov and Charles Oliveira.
Gaethje has won 24 of his 28 fights with four losses. Following his loss to Poirier, The Highlight went on four-fight winning streak with wins over James Vick, Edson Barboza, Donald Cerrone and Tony Ferguson.
He has lost two of his last four fights, with those defeats being title defeats against Khabib and Oliveira – just like Poirier.
This should be an absolute bell-ringer of a fight, and I personally cannot wait for this one.
I am a massive Poirier fan, but I am well aware that Gaethje is a very dangerous fighter.
I have to back The Diamond to beat Gaethje for a second time and move closer to facing lightweight champion Islam Makhachev in the future.
Go with Poirier to claim a knockout win in the third round with plenty of blood being spilled.
