The UFC’s ever-growing calendar of behind-closed-doors events continues with UFC 250 on Saturday June 6, and BettingPro.com has picked out several bets from the undercard of the event headlined by Amanda Nunes v Felicia Spencer for the women’s featherweight title.
UFC 250 Predictions & Tips: Raphael Assuncao v Cody Garbrandt
Cody Garbrandt was on top of the world in December 2016 when he became the first man to solve the Dominick Cruz puzzle and become the UFC bantamweight champion, but he has not won a single fight since that night. He was knocked out in the second round of his first defence of the title against TJ Dillashaw and was stopped even quicker when the two men met once again several months later. ‘No Love’ was then knocked out in the opening round of his March 2019 fight with Pedro Munhoz, so can he finally stop the rot and get his career back on track when he faces the experienced Raphael Assuncao at UFC 250? Assuncao is in his 10th year fighting in the UFC and while he has never worked his way to a title shot, he is a highly-respected fighter who has stepped into the ring with some top names. He does not boast many ‘signature wins’ however, I do not expect to see Garbrandt provide him with one here. A change in camp will have done him the world of good and as long as he does not get drawn into a fire-fight, Garbrandt should be able to work over Assuncao and stop him with strikes inside three rounds.
UFC 250 Predictions & Tips: Sean O’Malley v Eddie Wineland
Sean O’Malley made a splash at UFC 248 back in March when he took out Jose Alberto Quinonez in impressive fashion in just over two minutes, and he now has an opportunity to claim the biggest victory of his professional career so far when he takes on former WEC bantamweight champion Eddie Wineland at UFC 250. Wineland’s CV features a who’s who of fighters in the lighter weight classes, but it is fair to say he is well and truly past his peak. Wineland has gone 6-7 in his last 13 fights, stretching back to March 2011, and that makes him the perfect foil for an up-and-comer like O’Malley. The 25-year-old can put a notable name on his record with a victory here, and I am backing him to do just that. O’Malley will put on a show as he picks apart and stops Wineland.
UFC 250 Predictions & Tips: Anthony Rocco Martin v Neil Magny
Nil Magny may not be a superstar in the welterweight division, but he has certainly carved out a very creditable career in the 170lb ranks with wins over some high-calibre opponents – most notably Johny Hendricks, Hector Lombard, Carlos Condit and Kelvin Gastelum. It has been two years since he last strung together back-to-back wins though, so can the 32-year-old American end that wait at UFC 250? Opponent Anthony Rocco Martin rebounded from the loss to Demian Maia in 2019 with a decision win over Ramazan Emeev just before the end of the year, but he has a massive 7” reach disadvantage going into this one and that spells trouble against a crafty fighter like Magny, who may not have a stand-out skill in his repertoire but is a strong all-rounder with durability. This will go the distance with the judges giving Magny the nod after all three rounds are in the books.
