Latest WTA Rankings, Monday February 10

andrew hendrie:

There were no ranking movements in the top 20 this week with Fed Cup taking place over the weekend.

With no ranking points on offer in Fed Cup competition, players in the top 20 remain in their post-Australian Open rankings, with Ashleigh Barty holding a commanding lead of over 2,000 points at the top.

Simona Halep and Karolina Pliskova follow at No. 2 and No. 3 respectively, with Australian Open champion Sofia Kenin registering at a career-high No. 7.

Kenin played an instrumental role in helping USA qualify for the Fed Cup Finals in Budapest over the weekend, teaming up with Bethanie Mattek-Sands to win the decisive doubles rubber after Serena Williams suffered her first ever singles loss in Fed Cup to Anastasija Sevsastova.

Regular action on the WTA Tour returns this week, with a Premier-Level tournament in St. Petersburg and International-level event in Hua Hin.

Five top 20 players are competing in St. Petersburg, including No. 5 Belinda Bencic and No. 8 Kiki Bertens, who is the defending champion.

Petra Kvitova, Johanna Konta and Marketa Vondrousova will also be leading contenders in St. Petersburg, while No. 4 Elina Svitolina leads the field in Hua Hin alongside No. 15 Petra Martic.

Barty won’t have the chance to increase her lead at the top of the rankings this month after pulling out of next week’s Dubai Duty Free Tennis Championships due to a foot injury.
