X Factor Betting Tips Guide: How To Bet On X Factor

The X Factor continues to be a staple of ITV’s schedule during the final few months of the year and the bookmakers continue to give customers the opportunity to bet on several different markets for the popular television show.

This market is fairly obvious – you are betting on who the winner of the X Factor will be. This market tends to open when the auditions begin to air on television and it is available right through to when the final airs. Of course, backing somebody on the back of one successful audition could be a risky move because there are still plenty of opportunities for them to be sent home before the live shows even begin – and we have seen this happen plenty of times. So while you can get some decent-sized odds at this early stage, we recommend waiting until either Judges’ Houses or the live shows themselves because at that point you will have a more accurate idea of who the runners and riders are.

Winning Gender

Again, this is straightforward. For this market you are betting on the show’s Winning Gender. That means you do not have to choose the winner of the show – you are simple betting on whether the winner of the series is male or female.

Winning Judge/Mentor

Each category on the show has a designated mentor and when you are betting on this market you are betting on which mentor will produce the winning act. Because each mentor has several acts when the show begins, this market means you have multiple chances to win the show. But of course, that means the odds are likely to be much shorter than the ones you see for in the Winner market.

Next Elimination

Once the live shows are up and running you should be able to bet on who will be the next act to be eliminated. As is the nature of this type of show, there can be upsets that provide a decent profit if you manage to successfully predict one. But of course, those acts that are expected to struggle and head home early will always be priced up at short odds.

X Factor History

The X Factor first appeared on our television screens back in 2004 when Simon Cowell's brainchild took over Saturday night television for several weeks and spawned a phenomenon that would go on to become a staple of ITV's schedule in the Autumn and Winter.

Most people have probably forgotten that Steve Brookstein won the inaugural series, and while he is not the only X Factor winner to have faded into obscurity, there have been some huge successes coming out of this show.

2009 runner-up Olly Murs has gone on to become one of the most popular acts on the British scene while girlband Little Misx, who won the show in 2011, continue to be big players in music charts around the globe.

And of course, this is the show that brought us One Direction - a group of boys who were lumped together after failed solo auditions in 2010, went on to finish third on the show but then went on to take over the world as 1D fever gripped every corner of the planet.

So for every Brookstein there is a One Direction. For every Leon Jackson there is an Olly Murs. And for every Sam Bailey there is a Little Mix. But just who has been crowned X Factor champion over the years? Look no further because we have the complete rundown here...
