Gallagher Premiership Week 15 Predictions & Tips: Wasps v Sale Sharks (Saturday 16:30 GMT)

Sale Sharks will be looking to boost their hopes of a top two finish in the Gallagher Premiership when they travel to the Ricoh Arena on Saturday to do battle with Wasps.

The Sharks – who won the Premiership for the one and only time in their history back in 2006 – are currently fourth on the league ladder thanks to nine wins and five defeats.

They are two points behind Harlequins in third place, while they are 14 behind current league leaders Bristol Bears.

Sale have lost just once in their last four Premiership matches, but they have been beaten on their last two away games against Northampton Saints and Harlequins.

Wasps – who were beaten by Exeter Chiefs in last season’s Grand Final – are not having a great time this year. They find themselves down in 10th position and are 12 points away from breaking into the top four.

They saw a four-match losing streak come to an end in week 14 as they beat promoted side Newcastle Falcons 20-18, but they have lost their last four home games at the Ricoh Arena.

These two have already met in the Premiership this season, with Wasps winning 26-23, but they have not achieved a league double over the Sharks since 2011.

Sale have won on their last two trips to the Ricoh Arena, and I am backing them to make it three in a row. I cannot really see the Wasps troubling the Sharks and I am backing the Manchester-based club by 15+ points.

Gallagher Premiership Week 15 Predictions & Tips: Leicester Tigers v Newcastle Falcons (Sunday 15:00 GMT)

Both Leicester Tigers and Newcastle Falcons need the points when they meet at the Mattioli Woods Welford Road on Sunday if they are going to make a late push for a top six place and a spot in the Champions Cup next season.

The Tigers occupy eighth place on the Gallagher Premiership league ladder with a points tally of 33 thanks to seven wins from 14 matches.

Over the past eight games, the Tigers have won four and lost four. They come into this game on the back of a disappointing 47-31 loss away at Exeter Chiefs. They have lost just once at home in any competition since December.

The Falcons started the season well following their promotion, but they have dropped down to ninth place on the ladder and are three points behind Sunday’s opponents.

Newcastle have won just one game since they beat Harlequins 25-22 in round 11 in January. They have also not won on their travels since beating Wasps at the Ricoh Arena in early December.

The round 4 clash between these two was postponed, with Falcons getting the points in a declared victory, while their only legitimate win on the field against the Tigers in the last five years occurred at Welford Road in April 2018.

This will be a close and tense affair, but I think with the Tigers being on home soil they will have the edge. I am backing them to come out victorious in this one by 8-14 points.
