Gallagher Premiership Week 6 Predictions & Tips: Harlequins v London Irish (Sunday 15:00 GMT)

Harlequins will have ambitions of breaking into the top four of the Gallagher Premiership league standings and challenging for the title, but they have to beat the likes of London Irish to be even considered as a contender.

If Quins struggle to get past London Irish, then their chances of upsetting the likes of Wasps, Sale Sharks, Bristol Bears and Exeter Chiefs will be impossible.

The Twickenham Stoop based outfit find themselves in sixth place on the league ladder thanks to two wins from five attempts, and they cannot afford to keep dropping points if they have any chance of making the semi-finals.

This will be their first game of 2021 after their game with Worcester Warriors on New Year’s Day was postponed. Their last game Premiership game was on Boxing Day as they went down 27-19 at home to Bristol Bears, and they have not won in the league since beating Gloucester 34-24 on December 6.

I tipped London Irish to be relegated from the Premiership come the end of the season, and although they have one win under their belt, I am not ready to change my mind just yet.

The Exiles picked up their only win of the season in Round 2 as they ran out 22-9 winners against Leicester Tigers with Curtis Rona scoring the only try of the game, while Paddy Jackson collected a personal points haul of 17 with the boot.

In my opinion, neither of these two teams will be pushing for a semi-final berth, but I can see Harlequins winning this one quite comfortably. On paper, Quins have the better team with the likes of Mike Brown, Danny Care, James Chisholm and Will Evans, so I am tipping them to win this one by a margin of 11-15 points.
