Gallagher Premiership Predictions & Tips: Winner

Exeter Chiefs will have a massive target on their backs this season. Not only are they the defending Gallagher Premiership champions, but they will also be defending the Champions Cup this season as well. Squad rotation will have to be managed correctly if they are to fight on both fronts, they have already strengthened their squad with the signing of South African prop Maks van Dyk. The 28-year-old has been brought in as cover for when the likes of Harry Williams and Tomas Francis are away on international duty. The Chiefs were well and truly the best team in the competition last season, they may have lost their way at the end of the weekly rounds but they had already been that dominant that they were assured top spot well before the play-offs started. Their recent success could trip them up with the likes of Williams, Jonny Hill and Henry Slade being in the England squad, while other players including Francis (Wales), Jonny Gray, Sam Skinner and Stuart Hogg (all Scotland) could be missing at crucial times of the season. Despite this, I cannot see anyone stopping them again this season. They are well coached and know how to grind out the tough victories. I’ll be backing them to win the Gallagher Premiership Grand Final again in 2021.

Gallagher Premiership Predictions & Tips: Top Four

Sale Sharks missed out on a place in the Gallagher Premiership play-offs last season after their final game of the campaign was postponed. They will be determined to ensure they don’t miss out so cruelly this time around. Sale are becoming one of the top teams in English rugby and missing out on last season’s semi-finals was a massive blow to their ego. The Sharks have a squad loaded with talent with the likes of Denny Solomona, Luke James, Jean-Luc du Preez, Tom Curry, Jono Ross, Sam James and AJ McGinty and if they can have a relatively healthy campaign then they will definitely challenging for a top four place.

Gallagher Premiership Predictions & Tips: To Finish Bottom

It would be easy to look at the teams in the Gallagher Premiership and say the newly promoted side – Newcastle Falcons – will be relegated at the first attempt. You should know by now, I don’t take the easy option. Having looked at the recruitment the Falcons have made, I think they will do alright this season. I don’t necessarily think they will make the play-offs, but I can say with confidence that they will not go down. They have signed the likes of Luther Burrell, Louis Schreuder and Robbie Smith, while Logovi’i Mulipola has extended his stay. So, if Newcastle are safe, who will go down? I think London Irish will struggle this season, they ended the last campaign in 10th place with six wins from 22 matches. I think their stay in the top-flight will come to an after two years. They will start the season without Matt Williams and Terence Hepetema will long-term injuries. Williams is set to be out of action for nine months with an anterior cruciate ligament injury, while Hepetema is targeting a December return after breaking his wrist in September. They will be massive losses for the Exiles, and I think they will struggle to win their opening four or five games. And that will be their downfall come the end of the season, they will be relegated back to the Championship.
