Queensland v NSW State of Origin Game 3 Odds, Tips & Predictions
Queensland and New South Wales will walk out at the Suncorp Stadium in game three of the 2022 State of Origin series in a winner take all clash.
The Maroons won the opening game in Perth with Dane Gagai, Daly Cherry-Evans and Valentine Holmes all scoring tries in a 16-10 success.
Game two was not as close as New South Wales ran rampant with Nathan Cleary scoring two of their seven tries in a 44-12 hammering. Brian To’o, Angus Crichton, Jarome Luai, Daniel Tupou and Matt Burton also crossed for tries at the Optus Stadium.
It was win or bust for the Blues and they took the Maroons apart. I honestly don’t think we will see a repeat of that performance. This will be a close encounter that will go down to the final 10 minutes.
Queensland have been forced into changes through injury, although they needed to change things as they were outclassed last time out.
Felise Kaufusi will not feature in game three for Queensland as he is in America with his sick father. Jeremiah Nanai takes his place in the front row. Tom Gilbert has been named on the bench for his Origin debut, Cameron Munster is expected to play despite injuring his shoulder in game two.
Burton keeps his place in the centre after an outstanding game for the Blues in the second Origin, meaning Jack Wighton is the 18th man.
New South Wales were outstanding in Sydney, but game three is in Brisbane – the heart of Queensland – and I can only see a Maroons victory.
We all saw how the Sydney crowd got behind the Blues in game two, well it will be a sea of Maroon and they will be vocal and hostile and that will spur Billy Slater’s men on.
I am backing Queensland to win a tough encounter by 6-10 points. I expect a few tries to be scored with Holmes and Burton scoring for the Maroons and Blues respectively.
I also expect hooker Ben Hunt to score late in the second half to help Queensland home and win the series.
Queensland have won the last five deciders played at Suncorp, while the last time the Blues won the deciding game in Sydney was back in 2005.
