Wigan Warriors v Huddersfield Giants Challenge Cup Final Tips & Predictions (Saturday, May 28 15:00 BST)

Wigan Warriors and Huddersfield Giants will both be near full-strength for Saturday’s Challenge Cup Final at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium

Warriors coach Matt Peet has included skipper Tommy Leuluai for the first time since picking up an injury against St Helens on Good Friday. Kaide Ellis returns from suspension, while Sam Powell serves the final game of his six-match ban.

The Giants welcome back Will Pryce after finally serving his own 10-match suspension for a dangerous tackle against Hull FC. Theo Fages is not fit, but Olly Russell has been named in the 21-man squad despite going off with an injury last weekend.

Wigan will be looking to win the Challenge Cup for a record 20th time, while the Giants have only won this tournament once in their history back in 1920 – when they beat Wigan 21-10 at Headingley.

League form goes out of the window when a piece of silverware is involved, but the Giants did recently beat the Warriors 32-22 in Super League.

All eyes will be on the best player in Super League at the moment in Jai Field. The Australian full-back has been in fine form this season, if you give him half a yard he will punish you, and the Giants will have to monitor him closely.

They need to be careful though. If they concentrate on Field, then the likes of Bevan French, Liam Marshall and Cade Cust could cause the damage.

I am backing Wigan to win the trophy, but I do not expect it to be a walkover. A lot has been made of Wigan’s leaky defence of late, but I believe they will be on point at Tottenham.

I expect Wigan to win the game by 1-12 points with Ethan Havard scoring at any time during the 80 minutes. For first try scorer, I am going for Iain Thornley. The centre last played in a Challenge Cup Final for Wigan in 2013 and he scored the opener then, so I am backing him to do it again.

In rugby league, the man of the match award in the Challenge Cup Final is the Lance Todd Award. Field is the obvious favourite to win it, but if Wigan go well, then Liam Farrell will be in the running. He might only be appreciated at Wigan, but he rarely has a bad game. I am backing him for the man of the match with Sky Bet.
