French Grand Prix Betting Predictions & Tips

The casual Formula One fan might have lost interest in the 2022 campaign due to the fact that Lewis Hamilton is not a genuine title contender.

The former world champion has found it hard to get any momentum in his Mercedes this season. He has yet to win a single game and his is currently sixth on the standings with 109 points – 99 behind leader and defending champion Max Verstappen.

I think Hamilton’s luck will change this weekend. A few changes to their car will allow them to be competitive in France and I am backing the Brit to show he is still one of the best drivers on the circuit by taking the chequered flag.

I am anticipating an intriguing battle between Hamilton and Verstappen just like we had last season, while Charles Leclerc will be in confident mood following his win in Austria last time out. I expect all three of these to finish on the podium.

Outside of the top three, there is still points up for grabs and I am expecting both Mercedes cars to be on point and the most competitive they have been all year. Back George Russell to finish high in the points and boost his own chances of a top-three overall finish.

Circuit Guide

The Circuit Paul Ricard first hosted the French Grand Prix in 1971 and became the on-off home for this race over the next couple of decades before being dropped in favour of Magny-Cours in 1991. The France leg of the season as eventually dropped in 2008, but when it returned in 2018 it was announced that Circuit Paul Ricard would once again be the host track. An incredibly flat circuit that boasts a one-mile long straight, sweeping corners and several long run-off areas, this track is well known for high-speed racing that offers plenty of opportunities to overtake throughout a lap of the circuit. So far it has been Lewis Hamilton who has got to grips with this track the best, winning the French Grand Prix in the first two seasons back on the Formula 1 schedule, while Max Verstappen was the winner last year.
