Styrian Grand Prix Predictions & Tips

Max Verstappen leads the standings with 131 wins thanks to three victories and is ahead of current champion Lewis Hamilton by 12 points, and this battle for the title looks to be one of the closest yet.

Hamilton has a reputation of being a cool character and good under pressure, but for some reason that is not happening this season.

The defending champion has blown his top a couple of times in 2021 and has made a couple of mistakes that has led to him not winning the race.

Verstappen has made mistakes himself, but he looks determined to go the distance this year and I don’t think many supporters would begrudge the Dutch racer from winning his first F1 championship title.

I like the way Verstappen and his team have got into the head of their Mercedes counterparts and I am backing him to make it back-to-back wins and put Hamilton in an even more foul mood.

Before last weekend’s French Grand Prix, I backed Verstappen to win the race and I also had Sergio Perez to finish on the podium. My eldest lad is a massive Formula One fan, and when I told him my predictions, he said he didn’t think Verstappen would win and Perez would not finish in the top three.

So, when both of those predictions came true, it is safe to say I was very smug. So, I need to get this one right so I can laugh at him once more.

I’m thinking outside the box on this one, I am backing Ferrari’s Charles Leclerc to push the top two all the way and grab his first podium of the season. I expect the likes of Perez, Bottas and Lando Norris will make crucial mistakes which will allow the Monaco-born driver to take advantage.

Styrian Grand Prix Predictions & Tips: Circuit Guide

The Styrian Grand Prix is just two years old, although the Red Bull Ring has been the venue for the Austrian Grand Prix since 1963. Originally known as the Osterreichring before being renamed the A1-Ring in 1997, this circuit has been known as the Red Bull Ring since it ended a 10-year exile by returning to the Formula 1 schedule in 2014. The circuit has undergone a host of changes over the years, with the biggest coming between 1995 and 1996 when the venue was completely rebuilt due to safety concerns. Fast sweeping corners were replaced by tight bends a long straight was added to provide further opportunities for drivers to overtake. The first ever Styrian Grand Prix took place last year with Lewis Hamilton winning the race ahead of Mercedes team-mate Valtteri Bottas and Red Bull’s Max Verstappen.
