F1 Singapore Grand Prix Betting Tips & Predictions

Defending Formula One World Champion Max Verstappen is in the driving seat to be crowned a two-champion with six races yet to be completed.

The F1 calendar reaches Singapore this weekend at the Marina Bay Street Circuit and Vertsappen will be looking to extend his lead over Ferrari’s Charles Leclerc.

The Red Bull driver has 11 wins under his belt – one more than he won last season – and has 335 points in the bag. He leads Leclerc by 116 points and only a season-ending crash could see him fail to be crowned champion for the second year in succession.

Mercedes driver and former World Champion Lewis Hamilton loves this track. He has won it four times and holds the record with Sebastian Vettel. Unfortunately, I cannot see him taking the record alone in 2022. Hamilton has yet to win a race this season, and I don’t think he will. He needs to prepare mentally for the next season and be ready to go again.

The future of F1 is undoubtedly George Russell. The Mercedes driver is fourth on the rankings with 203 points, and if he keeps improving, Great Britain could have another World Champion in the near future.

I am backing Verstappen to win the race, with Leclerc and Russell joining him on the podium. I have a feeling that by the end of the season, Russell will have caught third-ranked Sergio Perez.

Verstappen can be crowned World Champion if he wins his 12th race of the campaign and both Leclerc and Perez have terrible races. If that happens, Verstappen will be the earliest crowned champion in 20 years, but I can see Leclerc pushing him all the way in Singapore, so that title will have to wait.

Circuit Guide

The Marina Bay Street Circuit is one of the newest venues on the Formula 1 calendar having debuted less than a decade ago, and much like the circuit in Monaco it is built alongside a harbour. It is a gruelling race for drivers as they battle the heat and humidity despite this being a night – Lewis Hamilton once said it was “like sitting in a sauna wearing a full fireproof race suits and helmet. But it does remain a popular circuit with them – Sebastian Vettel once called it a “classic” track – and many have admitted it provides a huge adrenaline rush because drivers go so close to the walls on several occasions during a lap. No two men have mastered this track for the duration of a race quite like Hamilton and Vettel, who are both four-time Singapore Grand Prix winners at the Marina Bay Street Circuit.
