F1 Italian Grand Prix Betting Tips & Predictions

Max Verstappen equalled the race win record that former Red Bull World Champion Sebastian Vettel set 10 years ago. Verstappen won his ninth race in a row in his home country last week which gives him the chance to have the record all to himself when the circus we call Formula One comes back to Monza.

The Dutchman extended his lead yet again at the top of the standings, sitting 138 points ahead of his teammate Sergio Perez and Red Bull are the only team to stand on the top step of the podium in 2023.

There have been shocks at Monza before with Pierre Gasly and Daniel Ricciardo winning the race in consecutive years when they were in cars that did not necessarily deserve to win a Grand Prix.

Gasly shone in the rain-affected Dutch Grand Prix last week and stood on the podium for the first time since Azerbaijan in 2021 and the first one in his new team at Alpine.

I do not think he will get a podium again, but I believe another big performance is needed for the Frenchman.

Lando Norris and McLaren had a poor start to the season but since the upgrades and if they can get the weather and the luck, Norris can be up there with the best of them.

Both Mercedes drivers have signed new deals this week, but the main news is Lewis Hamilton staying in the sport for at least two more years. He has said the main reason being ‘unfinished business’ and “trying to win more world championships” was the reason for staying in F1. I think he will celebrate his new deal with a podium finish.

Italian Grand Prix Preview: Circuit Guide

With the exception of a handful of races, the city of Monza has been the host site from the Italian Grand Prix since it was introduced back in 1921. It has been forced to undergo numerous changes over the years in an attempt to boost driver, staff and fan safety because the circuit has been the site of a string of incidents that have resulted in the deaths of over 80 people. But even after those changes, the Italian Grand Prix remains one of the races that produces the highest speeds of the Formula 1 season. Michael Schumacher had been the most successful driver in the history of the Italian Grand Prix prior to the 2018 season, but with his fifth career win that year Lewis Hamilton moved level with the German legend in the all-time race standings.
