Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang - Arsenal FC

There is plenty of transfer talk happening at the minute. Arsenal will be looking to keep hold of striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, but we have a look at where his next destination could be.

Arsenal cannot afford to let any of their star players leave, but they might not have any choice but to part with their top assets.

One of those top assets is Gabon international striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang. The 30-year-old has scored 49 goals in 74 appearances for the Gunners since his move from Borussia Dortmund in 2018.

Arsenal like to think of themselves as one of the top clubs in the Premier League, and I suppose they are really. But if they continue to sell off their best players and don’t replace them with like-for-like quality, then they could be looking up at the Champions League places form the outside on a more regular basis.

Here is a brief look at the teams currently the front-runners to sign the striker if he decides he doesn’t want to remain at the Emirates Stadium:

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang’s Next Club: Barcelona @ 15/8 Paddy Power

It’s always flattering for a player when Barcelona show an interest. They are one of the biggest clubs in the world, and more often than not they get their man. Which player wants to be known as the ‘guy who turned down Barca?’. Luis Suarez has struggled with injuries this season and they have had to rely heavily on Lionel Messi and Antoine Griezmann. They need someone to come in and take the pressure off those two, and with all due respect their signing of Martin Braithwaite is not the solution. Aubameyang would come into the Camp Nou and score a bagful of goals, while he can also create them as well. Barca are the favourites to get his signature and he could be the final piece of the jigsaw puzzle that gets them their first Champions League win since 2015.

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang’s Next Club: Real Madrid @ 4/1 Paddy Power

Real Madrid are just like Barcelona in terms of that it is very difficult to turn them down when they come calling. Real Madrid fans might not be too excited about their club once again looking at the Premier League to recruit their players. They have witnessed a long drawn out saga with Gareth Bale over his future, while they have been far from impressed with the form of Eden Hazard following his switch from Chelsea. But if they managed to get Aubameyang, they would be getting an out-and-out goal scorer. He has been a success in France, Germany and England in that he always finds the back of the net. He will no doubt continue that form if he moved to Spain. Real Madrid could do a lot worse than consider a bid for Aubameyang.

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang’s Next Club: Man Utd @ 9/2 Paddy Power

Manchester United fans will be wary about their club going after an Arsenal player. They still haven’t got over the time they signed Alexis Sanchez from the Gunners. The Chile international went from scoring 60 goals in 122 appearances for Arsenal, to a flop scoring three goals in 32 matches for the Red Devils. Somehow, I cannot see Aubameyang being a flop, but I cannot see Arsenal letting him go to United either. Aubameyang would be perfect for United, the kind of striker they need to get them back in title contention. It would be great to see him link up with Bruno Fernandes. No offence to Anthony Martial, but Aubameyang is better than him and he could be the guy to turn United’s fortunes around and see them challenging for major honours yet again.

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang’s Next Club: Paris St Germain @ 6/1 Paddy Power

Paris Saint Germain will only go for Aubameyang if they sell Kylian Mbappe or Neymar. Mbappe and Neymar are both outstanding players, but there won’t be enough room for all three of them. In a world where more and more managers are dropping the 4-4-2 system to just have one out-an-out striker and another behind, it would be silly to have three world class strikers in the team with two of them out of position. Personally, I love the 4-4-2 system and believe you should have two strikers upfront, but that’s why I write about football and don’t manage a team. As already mentioned, PSG will only sign Aubameyang if they have to sell any of their top scorers.

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang’s Next Club: Liverpool @ 16/1 Paddy Power

Just like PSG, Liverpool will only sign Aubameyang if they lose any of their top three front players. Mo Salah, Firmino and Sade Mane are amazing together, and being honest if they have those three, they probably don’t need Aubameyang – look how far ahead of the Gunners they are this season. Salah is always linked with moves away, while the vultures are also circling to take Firmino and Mane away from Anfield. There would be uproar from the Anfield faithful if any of those three players were to be sold, but the pain could be eased with a top-quality signing like Aubameyang.
