Manchester United have been installed as the clear favourites to win the race to sign Borussia Dortmund star Jadon Sancho.
Jadon Sancho went from a virtual unknown to a household name in a very short space of team, and now some of the biggest clubs in the Premier League are looking to bring him back to England. Sancho began his football journey at Watford before joining Manchester City in 1025 at the age of 14. He started to impress in the Academy and after being told he would be fast tracked into the senior squad, he was left out of City’s pre-season tour in 2017.
Sancho started to get frustrated with his lack of opportunities and he joined Borussia Dortmund for a fee of around £8 million and soon got his first team chance. He took it with both hands and has scored 27 goals in 69 appearances for the Bundesliga outfit. His performances for Dortmund saw him called up to the England senior squad in 2018, he has since played 11 times for his country and has scored twice.
The Red Devils (3/1) have moved ahead of Chelsea (4/1) in the betting – with the pair set to battle it out for one of the world’s brightest prospects.
An 888sport spokesman told BettingPro: “Jadon Sancho is one of the most exciting young players on the planet right now, and with speculation of a transfer to Man United ramping up, we’ve made the Red Devils favourites to sign him this summer.”
“There will be no shortages of takers for Sancho should Borussia Dortmund be willing to sell – and with Chelsea circling too, expect this one to run and run.”
Sancho continues to be linked with a move away from the Bundesliga, take a look at the teams fighting for his signature:
Jadon Sancho’s Next Club: Manchester United @ 3/1 888Sport
It’s no surprise that Manchester United are linked with Sancho, as they seem to be linked with every single player on the market. Despite the likes of Ashley Young and Antonio Valencia running down the flanks in previous years, United have not had a quality winger since the days of Cristiano Ronaldo. Sancho is not at that level yet, but he is capable of putting the ball on the head of Marcus Rashford and Odio Ighalo for the next few years.
Jadon Sancho’s Next Club: Chelsea @ 4/1 888Sport
Sancho is a quality winger, who also knows how to find the back of the net. This is something Chelsea desperately need. Sancho has teamed up well with Callum Hudson-Odoi and Frank Lampard would love to have them together at club level. With the emergence of Hudson-Odoi and Billy Gilmour, Chelsea could have a very young midfield but with plenty of talent that could see them as a major force in the future.
Jadon Sancho’s Next Club: Barcelona @ 11/1 888Sport
Barcelona are somewhat like Manchester United, meaning they will be linked with near enough every player going ahead of the start of next season. Sancho needs to be careful when making the decision on which team he will be playing for next. If he goes to a club just for money and rarely gets any game time, then that is no good for anyone. It might be more beneficial for himself and England to remain with Dortmund for the time being.
