First Goalscorer Predictions & Tips: Liverpool v Burnley (Thursday 20:00 GMT)

Liverpool have found goals hard to come by in recent outings, failing to score in each of their last three games, but it is only a matter of time before this drought comes to an end and there is no shortage of men capable of helping the Reds get back on the goal trail. Mohamed Salah, of course, is a leading contender, but I find myself leaning towards Sadio Mane.

Mane is well off the pace in terms of goals this season and does not look like getting close to the tallies he managed in 2018/19 and 2019/20, but the Senegalese ace has enjoyed an upturn in fortunes over the past few weeks, Mane has scored four goals in his last six appearances for the Reds and that could have become five in six had the referee not blown early against Manchester United. It was not to be, but he could make up for that disappointment with the opener here.

First Goalscorer Predictions & Tips: Eibar v Atletico Madrid (Thursday 20:30 GMT)

Eibar have seen two disappointing trips over the past two weeks and now have a busy schedule as they look to bounce. They host Atletico Madrid desperate for points but it looks like snatching any will be a very tough task. Atleti come on the back of a 2-0 win over Sevilla, which was their 12th in 13 La Liga outings since mid-October.

After scoring twice in two appearances, Luis Suarez hasn’t found the net as Angel Correa and Saul made the difference against Sevilla. Suarez has nine goals to his name and sits just two behind Messi on the top goalscorers’ list. Still, we’ve seen a great impact and we hope to see him return to his great goalscoring run quickly, as we go for him to open the scoresheet at Upurua – which can be backed at eye-catching 3/1.

First Goalscorer Predictions & Tips: Borussia Monchengladbach v Borussia Dortmund (Friday 19:30 GMT)

Borussia Dortmund have struggled for consistency and it’s been obvious all around. Some of their main stars sit sidelined while some felt far from their best, like Jadon Sancho and now Erling Haaland. Still, Haaland scored a brace in a thrilling win at RB Leipzig (1-3) earlier this month and we’re hoping he can rediscover consistency after his return from an injury.

The 20-year-old striker already has 12 goals to his name and it has felt like he’s the prime target in the final third all the time. We expect more of the same now and with hopes Dortmund will push for all three points from the first whistle, we’re backing Haaland to open the scoresheet at 12/5. His exit has been ruled out by the club and we feel this could play a role too, as we go for him to build on a great tally this term.

First Goalscorer Predictions & Tips: Chorley v Wolves (Friday 19:45 GMT)

It is difficult to know what type of starting XI Wolves boss Nuno Espirito Santo will name given that this is an FA Cup tie against non-league opposition, but given his side’s recent poor form I would not be shocked to see him send out a strong line-up as he tries to get some confidence back into his stuttering side.

That means some of the big guns could be in the starting line-up for the Premier League side in this one and if he goes with them up front then Fabio Silva is immediately an appealing option to strike first. The Portuguese teenager was on target in last weekend’s loss to West Brom and continues to get chances to start in the absence of Raul Jimenez, so if he starts here he is a solid bet to break the deadlock.

First Goalscorer Predictions & Tips: PSG v Montpellier (Friday 20:00 GMT)

PSG found the net just once as they beat Angers (0-1) last week and now host Montpellier with a three-match winning streak behind them. We feel we should be in for a more exciting contest on Friday evening and we’re going for goals at Parc des Princes, hoping to see Mauro Icardi leading the line this time around.

Icardi made a return to the pitch earlier this month and he made his presence felt, bagging a goal each against Brest (3-0) and Marseille (2-1). He will now want more and we’re backing him to get it, going for the Argentinean to score first at 3/1. Icardi could play a crucial role up front and will want consistency, which goes in line with our prediction as more than just a lively longshot at this point.

First Goalscorer Predictions & Tips: Brighton v Blackpool (Saturday 15:00 GMT)

Brighton are not exactly blessed with an out-and-out goalscorer but Neil Maupay is a man in decent form fight now with three goals in his last six games and this meeting with lower league Blackpool is an excellent opportunity for him to add to his goal tally. Maupay netted the only goal in last weekend’s win up at Leeds United and he could set the Seagulls on their way to victory once again on Saturday afternoon.
