Now although this started as a bit of fun, it is now a tournament aimed at raising much-needed funds. The Ultimate Quaran-Team has gripped the nation so much, bookmakers have got involved and have released some outright odds on who will win the tournament.
The tournament will feature 128 teams battling it out in a knockout tournament with the likes of Manchester City, Wolverhampton Wanderers, Sheffield United, Burnley, West Ham United, Sydney FC, Angers and AS Roma all taking part.
It’s impossible to preview every single team taking part in the Ultimate Quaran-Team, I’d be here all week. So, I’ve gone through the top three contenders and explained why I think they have a good shot of being crowned champions.
And if you are looking for bigger odds, I have thrown in a ‘Bold Prediction’ too!
Ultimate Quaran-Team: Sheffield Wednesday @ 5/1 William Hill
It’s very rare I get to write an article stating that Sheffield Wednesday are the favourites to win a tournament, but that’s the world we are living in folks. Owls fan and professional FIFA player Delee is ranked 1024 in the world of FIFA on PlayStation and he will be controlling the Blue & White Wizards with bookmaker William Hill backing him as the outright favourite. He has already jokingly tweeted that there is no pressure on him, but all eyes will be on Wednesday’s first-round tie against Cambridge United. If Delee carried his team to glory it will be the first piece of major silverware the Owls have won since 1991.
Ultimate Quaran-Team: Manchester City @ 8/1 William Hill
Manchester City have already won the EFL Cup this season, while all the weight is on the shoulders of Shellzz to bring more silverware back to the Etihad Stadium. Shellzz is currently tanked 63rd on PlayStation in the world and he has a great chance of winning the whole tournament. Manchester City take on Belgian side KV Kortrijk with the Blues third favourites to win the competition at 8/1, while Kortrijk can be backed at 100/1.
Ultimate Quaran-Team: DC United @ 16/1 William Hill
The Ultimate Quaran-Team tournament is dominated by teams from the English competitions, but one team from America is determined to take the crown back overseas. KingCJ0 is a professional FIFA player for DC United and is ranked 99th on PlayStation and it’s safe to say the Americans don’t lack confidence and he will fancy his chances of upsetting all the big-named clubs. United have a first-round tie against 50/1 shot Celta Vigo.
Ultimate Quaran-Team Bold Prediction: Burnley @ 25/1 William Hill
Backing Burnley to win a major football competition is just as strange as seeing Sheffield Wednesday as overall favourites, but here we are. The Clarets will be represented by Colston who has played for Burnley in the ePremier League last season. He is ranked 303rd on PlayStation and he will fancy his chances of knocking out Shrewsbury Town in the first round.
