Tuesday night could produce a defining moment in the Bundesliga title race when league leaders Bayern Munich visit second-place Borussia Dortmund. Can Bayern extend their lead at the summit to take a giant stride towards eight-in-a-row, or will Dortmund cut the gap to just one point?

Borussia Dortmund v Bayern Munich Predictions & Tips
Bayern Munich were in red-hot form before the Bundesliga went on its sudden hiatus, and not much has changed since the 2019/20 campaign resumed earlier this month. A 2-0 win away to Union Berlin made it seven wins on the bounce in all competitions, taking their unbeaten run to 15 games, and they warmed up for this massive clash with Dortmund by making it 16 without loss thanks to a 5-2 rout of Eintracht Frankfurt on Saturday evening. That victory – their 15th in 16 games – means Bayern continue to boast a four-point lead at the summit, and if they can keep this blistering form going with another victory on Tuesday night they will almost certainly put themselves on the brink of a record-setting eighth consecutive Bundesliga title. So can they claim three more points?
It goes without saying that Borussia Dortmund will be determined to ensure that does not happen. It has been a long time since Dortmund were crowned kings of German football, but they have given themselves a serious shot at ending their drought thanks to their own solid form either side of the temporary shutdown. Back-to-back wins over Schalke and Wolfsburg, without conceding a single goal, have made it six wins on the bounce in the Bundesliga, and Dortmund have now been victorious in none of their last 10 games in the German top flight. That is the sort of form you want to be in when preparing to take on a team that has dominated the domestic game for the best part of the decade, but can they continue this strong sequence with three more points that would see them cut the gap between themselves and the league leaders to just one solitary point.
This is certainly a tough match to call. Both teams are in outstanding form right now and over the past few seasons the home side has tended to win this fixture. Dortmund have now racked up five clean sheets in their last six Bundesliga games, with the goals flowing consistently at the other end, and they also boast the best home record in the league. They are unbeaten, winning 10 times and drawing on three occasions, they have scored more goals at home than any other club and have conceded less at home than any other German top flight side. So as you can see, it would be no massive surprise to see them walk away with the win here.
However, on the flip side they were absolutely hammered when they took on Bayern earlier this season, losing 4-0, and the visitors boast the best away league in the Bundesliga at this time. Their nine-win total is joint best in the league, but where they stand out from the pack is goals with more scored and less conceded than any other top-tier team in Germany. And of course, this is a team that has controlled German football for years now so it would be no shock to anyone to see the league leaders leave with the spoils and a commanding lead at the top of the table.
So who do we side with? If you fancy Dortmund for the upset I recommend backing them at 5/2 with Paddy Power because the bookmaker is refunding losing bets, in cash, should Bayern be victorious (see details here). That means if the upset does not happen you are secure. I am not backing the upset though.
Bayern are flying, they are racking up wins and points and have showed no signs of slowing down since returning to action. They have also dominated this fixture in recent years, winning six of the last eight in all competitions, so I am backing Bayern Munich to close in on another title with a victory here. Given that Dortmund have been so consistent in front of goal they are good value to get on the scoresheet, but ultimately it will not be enough as former striker Robert Lewandowski helps shoot them down.
