It has taken them seven years, but if the bookmakers are correct then Liverpool will finally lure Willian to Anfield this summer.
The Reds were pipped to the Brazilian winger’s signature by Chelsea back in 2013, but his deal with the Stamford Bridge outfit is set to expire this summer and there will be no shortage of potential suitors for his services.
Tottenham Hotspur, managed by ex-Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho, are a believed to be at the front of the queue at 7/2 with bookmaker 888Sport, but it appears as though the North London club are going to face some serious competition from the runaway league leaders.
Reports have claimed that Liverpool are in talks with Willian over a move when his deal expires at the end of June, and 888Sport has responded to this development by slashing the odds on the Brazilian heading to Merseyside.
Having been 12/1 outsiders earlier this week, the Reds are now all the way into 5/1 to land the player.
“Liverpool were heavily linked with Willian before he made the switch to Stamford Bridge in 2013, and seven years on they’re out to get him again,” an 888Sport spokesperson told BettingPro.com.
“With reports suggesting the Reds are planning on offering the Brazilian a contract, we’ve slashed their odds of landing him this summer from 12/1 to 5/1.”
Liverpool are now 5/1 second favourites to land Willian alongside domestic rivals Arsenal, while Manchester Unietd are 6/1 to make a summer swoop for the experienced playmaker.
But could a move abroad be on the cards?
Juventus are 7/1 to land the Chelsea man before the end of the summer, with Barcelona out at 12/1 at this time.
