Back Aberdeen to beat or draw vs. Motherwell & both teams not to score @ 2/1 bet365
This match pits third against fourth in the Scottish Premiership, but Celtic and Rangers are so far out of sight in the Scottish Premiership that this match means very little outside of playing a role in who will finish the season as the ‘best of the rest’ outside of the Old Firm. Motherwell currently occupy third spot in the table, but they are just one point ahead of Aberdeen at this time so whoever comes out on top here will head into the weekend in third place. The question is, who will it be?
Motherwell’s grip on third place has weakened considerably thanks to a miserable run of form since late January that has seen them win only one of their last eight games. They do go into this fixture having followed up a 4-1 rout of Ross County with a 1-1 stalemate at Hearts though, so manager Stephen Robinson is probably feeling a little better about his team than he was when they went six games without a win, losing four times, between late January and the end of February.
Aberdeen are in slightly better form overall with three wins coming in their last five games in all competitions, but their recent Premiership form has not been much better than their hosts. The Dons did run out 3-1 winners at Hibernian last weekend, but they have now won only two of their last 10 games in the league and have won just once away from home in the top flight since a 3-1 success at Ross back on November 9.
So as you can see, this fixture is one that could go either way and if you are looking at previous results for guidance, they do not offer too much help because these two teams have split their two other meetings this season, with both clubs winning away from home. So, who takes this? For me the Double Chance market as to become into play here so I am leaning towards an Aberdeen win or the draw. While their away form in the league is not great, the Dons have now gone three games unbeaten on their travels in all competitions, winning twice. Couple that with Motherwell’s poor home form over the past few months and this could be a positive night at the office for the visitors.
That is not the end of my bet though – I am also backing ‘no’ when it comes to both teams scoring. While these two defences have been leaky in recent times, both meetings this season have seen only one team score and Both Teams To Score – No has been a winning bet on 10 of their last 11 encounters. Those are statistics I simply cannot ignore.

Back Odsonne Edouard to score first & Celtic to beat Rangers @ 6/1 bet365
It was only a couple of months ago that Rangers were breathing right down the necks of Celtic with a game-in-hand. A well-deserved and dominant win over the Hoops at Celtic Park had put Steven Gerrard’s men in a strong position to finally end their rivals’ recent dominance of the domestic game, but for the second season running they have fallen apart after the mid-season break. Rangers have won just four of their last nine games to pretty much gift wrap the Premiership title for Celtic, and any hopes of silverware were ended by an embarrassing Scottish Cup defeat at Hearts. So heading into Sunday’s game, all Rangers are playing for is pride.
Celtic, on the other hand, would love nothing more than to pile on the misery for the Glasgow rivals. They did drop points at Livingston just over a week ago, but they bounced back with a 5-0 mauling of St Mirren last weekend and they have now gone 10 games without defeat in the Scottish Premiership, winning nine times. That has been the perfect response to that Old Firm loss they tasted in late December. But can Celtic keep this red-hot run going and get the better of the Gers here?
Rangers have been the better team in each of the last two meetings, albeit losing the Scottish League Cup Final in one of them, so recent history in Old Firm fixtures would suggest that Gerrard’s side have the edge here. However, it is almost impossible to ignore just how woeful the blue half of the Glasgow have been since returning from that quick mid-season trip to Dubai. They have looked toothless going forward at times and top goalscorer Alfredo Morelos has scored just once since the Boxing Day win over Kilmarnock. And of course, he still has more red cards against Celtic than goals. That would not be hard either, because the Hoops are the one Scottish side he cannot seem to score against!
Therefore I have to suggest backing Celtic to silence Ibrox with an Old Firm win on Sunday and I also recommend backing Odsonne Eduoard to set them on their way to victory. The in-form French striker has been an absolute nightmare for the Rangers defence in recent years and given their recent ropey performances he will be champing at the bit to get after them here. Eduoard has netted in both of the previous league meetings with Rangers this season and that trend could continue here as he breaks the deadlock and Celtic go on to claim the points and the bragging rights.
