Shakhter Soligorsk v Neman Grodno (13:30 BST)

Shakhter Soligorsk bounced back from an opening-day defeat to Torpedo Zhodino with a 2-0 victory at Gorodeya last Saturday, but can they follow that with a first home win of the season in the league when they entertain Neman Grodno on Saturday afternoon? Neman Grodno narrowly fended off the drop last season, finishing only six points clear of the bottom three, and another season of struggle appears to be on the cards here despite them responding well to the 1-0 loss at Isloch, beating Vibetsk 2-0 last time out. However, that does little to give me confidence about their chances of making it back-to-back wins here. Shakhter Soligorsk have won three of their last four competitive fixtures and they have kept a clean sheet in eight of their last nine. We should see more of the same here as the home side claim all of the spoils.

BATE Borisov v FK Ruh Brest (15:30 BST)

BATE Borisov may well be the most well-known club in Belarus, but name value means nothing without results on the pitch. Having finished second last season the club decided to make a change of manager, but former reserve team boss Kirill Alshevskiy has endured an awful start with his team suffering back-to-back away defeats. They will not be pressing the panic button though – BATE did open their campaign with a couple of cup wins and they are yet to play a home game in the league. That changes this weekend when they play host to a newly-promoted FK Ruh Brest team who were unable to follow up an opening-weekend in at Dinamo Minsk, losing at home to Energetik-BGU a week ago. This is an ideal fixture for BATE to have at this time as they try to stop the rot, and I am confident that they will take full advantage. I expect them to get ahead and stay ahead on Saturday.

Dinamo Brest v Slavia Mozyr (17:30 BST)

Defending champions Dinamo Brest have not made a perfect start to the season, but another successful campaign appears to be on the cards for them. Brest are unbeaten through their first five competitive fixtures and they got their first league win of the season a week ago, winning 1-0 away to Slutsk. It was another stingy performance from a defence that has conceded just one goal in five games so far this season, and it is that rock-solid unit at the back that provides the foundations for Brest’s success. It should do once again this weekend against Slavia Mozyr, who did upset BATE Borisov last time out but are about to be brought back down to Earth. So far Dinamo Brest have managed to score more than one goal in a game on just one occasion, and 1-0 wins have become something of the norm since pre-season, so another 1-0 victory is a tempting bet here.
