FA Cup Final Betting Tips & Predictions

In a repeat of the Carabao Cup Final in February, which Liverpool dramatically edged 11-10 on penalties after a pulsating 0-0 draw, Chelsea will look to gain revenge in the FA Cup Final on Saturday.

Prior to the Blues’ trip to struggling Leeds United in midweek, Thomas Tuchel’s side had only gained five points from five matches, but a 3-0 win ought to have boosted confidence in the camp.

With the Premier League looking likely to elude them once again, Liverpool’s main focus now turns to two cup finals, starting with Wembley on Saturday and ending with Paris when they face Real Madrid in the Champions League final towards the end of May.

Another thrilling final awaits!

Liverpool v Chelsea (Saturday 14th May, 16:45 BST)

All three meetings between these sides this season have ended as a draw, with two of the three stalemates seeing Under 3 Goals land.

Given the amount at stake at Wembley on Saturday, I’m struggling to envisage a high-scoring affair. Both sides had plenty of chances to score in the Carabao Cup Final, but ultimately it did end 0-0.

1-1 is the shortest-priced Correct Score with most bookmakers and I certainly wouldn’t disagree with that. With that in mind, the draw has to be the value pick considering it is a much bigger price than a Liverpool win.

While it’s not a guarantee that either player will start, I like the look of this big-priced card double with Sky Bet.

Craig Pawson will officiate his first FA Cup Final on Saturday. I’d expect him to be a little more card-shy than usual given the magnitude of the occasion, but he’s definitely one of the more card-happy Premier League referees.

Indeed, in 17 of his last 20 PL matches, Pawson has shown 1+ card to each team and 30+ booking points overall.

With Fabinho likely to be injured for Liverpool, the likes of Jordan Henderson, Naby Keita and Thiago’s defensive output will need to increase. Of the three, Thiago is clearly the most talented, but also the most liable to pick up a booking, with 8 in 44 starts since joining the Reds. He’ll be busy with the likes of Mason Mount, Christian Pulisic and Kai Havertz operating between the lines.

I expect Christensen to get the nod as Chelsea’s right-sided centre-half, meanwhile, which means he’ll be very busy, too, against Sadio Mane and Luis Diaz. The Dane was sent off against the Reds last season for denying Mane a clear goalscoring opportunity by dragging him down, and he can struggle against raw pace.
