One Direction broke the hearts of fans across the world when they went their separate ways in 2015, but could 2020 be the year in which the incredibly popular boyband get back together.
1D enjoyed an incredible rise to fame when they were put together as part of the 2010 series of the X Factor, with their popularity seeing them pack out stadiums all around the globe, but behind-the-scenes tensions resulted in Zayn Malik quitting the band in early 2015 and several months later it was confirmed that he band were going on ‘hiatus’.
All five members of the band have gone on to focus on their solo careers, with mixed results, but a One Direction reunion is the one thing that fans want and recent events have ramped up speculation that they may finally get what they want in 2020.
Band members Harry Styles, Liam Payne, Louis Tomlinson and Niall Horan are once again ‘following’ ex-band mate Zayn on Twitter, and not only that, the official One Direction account is now ‘following’ the man who may believe brought about the 2015 downfall of the band when he quit just over five years ago.
If that was not enough, the official One Direction website is once again live, and Liam has poured further fuel on the fire by telling ‘The Late Show With James Corden’ that he could not say much because he would be “giving it away”, but he did confirm that “we’ve been speaking a lot more at the moment”.
So could One Direction get back together before the end of 2020?
The bookmakers believe the answer is ‘yes’ with Paddy Power now just 10/11 that the insanely popular boyband reunite before the end of this calendar year.
The Irish bookmaker is 4/1 that a new One Direction album is released by 2021, while it is 12/1 that a reunion this year could result in the former X Factor stars sitting atop the musical tree on Christmas Day as the number one act in the singles chart.
But what about live shows? Paddy Power is 8/1 that the group agree to headline Glastonbury when it returns in 2021, while it is 10/1 that they return to the place where they last performed together, the Wembley Arena, and sell it out in 2021.
