The European Tour will see 13 events across the continent take place in 2022, with Trier in Germany and Wieze in Belgium holding events for the first time.

Germany will host seven events in all, while tournaments will be held in Hungary, Czech Republic, the Netherlands and Austria with the final tournament heading to the Victoria Stadium in Gibraltar.

Each tournament on the European Tour will see a 48-player card consisting of PDC Tour Card Holders and qualifiers from other tournaments. Prize money at each event is £140,000 – the winner takes home £25,000 – with all winnings going towards the PDC Orders of Merit.

The top 16 players in the PDC will be in action with the likes of Michael van Gerwen, Luke Humphries, Gerwyn Price, Michael Smith, Rob Cross, Ryan Searle and Joe Cullen will all appear.

The Tour qualifiers for this event – which is the 12th one on the calendar and the first one ever in Wieze – will include Ross Smith, Rusty-Jake Rodriguez, Adrian Lewis, Vincent van der Voort and Steve Beaton.

Peter Wright will be looking to make it back-to-back wins on the European Tour after beating close friend Dimitri van den Bergh 8-6 in the final of the German Open.

I am not expecting Wright to win this weekend, but I will be backing his opponent in the last final. Van den Bergh is the future of darts and I expect him to kick-on and win more tournaments – starting with his home one.

He is currently ranked 14th in the world, and I personally think he is better than that. Back him to win and go on a roll ahead of the World Championships at the end of the year.
