Pakistan Super League Predictions & Tips: Lahore Qalandars v Islamabad United (Thursday 14:00 GMT)

Islamabad United moved into second place on the Pakistan Super League ladder on Tuesday with their third win of the season. They are level with Peshawar Zalmi in 1st and Lahore Qalandars in 3rd with six points at the time of writing, and they will go up against the Qalandars on Thursday at the National Stadium in Karachi. United bounced back to winning ways with a six-wicket success over Quetta Gladiators in a game that was put back 24 hours. The Gladiators were put into bat and Faheem Ashraf took three wickets as United reduced Quetta to 156-7 off 20 overs. With everyone expecting Alex Hales to shine once again with the bat, he was clean bowled for 23, which allowed others to shine. His opening partner did just that, as Paul Stirling smashed 56 from 33 and Rohail Nazir chipped in with 34 as United got home with three overs to spare. The Qalandars have won three of their four matches this season, and they come into this game on the back of a six-wicket success over defending champions Karachi Kings. The Kings were put into bat and Shaheen Afridi took three wickets as the champions posted a decent total of 186-9. It wasn’t enough as the Qalandars won the game with four balls remaining, as Fakhar Zaman hit 83 from 54 and Ben Dunk scoring 57. This should be an interesting and high-scoring affair, but I am backing United to remain in the hunt to finish first. Hales will be disappointed he missed out on some big runs on Tuesday, so I am backing him to hit back in style and top score for Islamabad. For the Qalandars, I like the form of Fakhar Zama, he goes out and attacks the ball from the off and has scored 189 runs in four matches, so I am backing him to score the most runs for Lahore.
