England are currently 1-0 up in the three-match series against Ireland after a crushing victory in game two.

The current World Cup champions are set to defend their title in India, and they have rested all of their squad for this series with a number of fringe players stepping up to the mark.

The opening game of the series was a draw after poor weather prevented any play. England then won the second game by 48 runs.

Will Jacks and Sam Hain led the way with 94 and 89 runs, while Ben Duckett smashed 48 off 49 balls as they posted 334-8 off 50 overs.

In reply, Ireland were bowled out for 286 with Barry McCarthy and Craig Young showing some fight at the end of the innings with 41 and 40 runs respectively.

George Scrimshaw capped off a memorable debut with 3-66, while Rehan Ahmed produced figures of 4-54.

The future looks good for England with some quality batsmen and bowlers coming through. I am expecting them to record another comfortable victory to seal the series.

Phil Salt fell for 28 after a good start, so I am backing him to get his act together and top score for England, while Curtis Campher will bounce back from a miserable nine to score the most for Ireland in defeat.
