England v India 3rd ODI Betting Tips & Predictions (Sunday, 11:00 BST)
I’ll be honest with you, I though England were dead and buried after they were humiliated in the first ODI clash against India at The Oval on Tuesday.
Jos Buttler’s men were bowled out for 110 and failed to take a single wicket as they lost by 10 wickets. I didn’t think they would be able to bounce back two days later – how wrong was I?
It was England’s turn to embarrass India and for that, they have Reece Topley to thank.
India won the toss for the second game running and put England into bat. The hosts made a respectable 246 with Moeen Ali top-scoring with 47, while David Wiley and Jonny Bairstow chipped in with 41 and 38 respectively.
It was a decent total, but I expected India to knock that off inside 50 overs. Well, they didn’t as Topley produced figures of 6-24m to rock the tourists as they were bowled out 146 with 11.1 overs left to bowl.
England needed that performance and I expect them to kick on from that and win the third game and take the series – which at the start of the week looked impossible.
Bairstow is a joy to watch in any form of cricket. It is rare to see one player good in all formats, but Bairstow is definitely one of them. I am backing him to top-score at the top of the innings.
India captain Rohit Sharma failed miserably in game two as he was trapped LBW by Topley without scoring. That was a blip and I am backing him to be in the runs again and top score for the tourists.
