England v Pakistan 3rd Test Prediction & Tips: England’s Top Batsman (1st Innings)

The predictable English weather made an appearance during the second Test in Southampton as only 134.3 overs were bowled during the five days. This meant that both teams were at the crease once, while England only managed to face 43.1 overs, they declared on 110-4 to ensure the Test was a draw and they lead 1-0 going to the third and final Test on Friday. Zak Crawley top scored for England with a well-taken 53 off 99 deliveries. He came in at number three on the fourth day and put in a polished performance to all but ensure he keeps his place for the third Test. The opening partnership between Dom Sibley and Rory Burns doesn’t seem to be working that well, and it’s almost certain that one of them will get out cheaply. This is where Crawley needs to shine, coming in at three is crucial. I’m backing Crawley to continue his rise by being England’s top scorer in their first innings as England look to avoid defeat to claim a series win over Pakistan.

England v Pakistan 3rd Test Prediction & Tips: England’s Top Bowler (1st Innings)

It’s a pleasure to watch England bowl at the moment, I know Stuart Broad and Jimmy Anderson cannot go on forever but watching them in full flight and still taking wickets is brilliant for the Test game. They will retire on their own terms. Even if, for some reason, Broad and Anderson fail to take wickets, England still have Jofra Archer and Chris Woakes. Up until this series, Woakes would be considered as the lesser of the four bowlers and probably the first one to be dropped if they needed a spinner. But he has taken five wickets already against Pakistan, as well as 11 against the West Indies. Woakes is an excellent bowler and he is becoming increasingly difficult to leave out. I’m backing him to be England’s leading wicket taker in the first innings.

England v Pakistan 3rd Test Prediction & Tips: Match Winner

The second Test was ruined by the wonderful English summer. Constant rain meant that most of the time the players were sat in the changing rooms. It wasn’t a good look for the game, and when they did get on the field the weather was too gloomy and they had to keep coming off for bad light. There is a lot of talk of starting Test matches earlier in the day, but that won’t come into force – if ever – for this Test. I’m afraid the only winner in this Test will be the weather. I’m backing a draw, and although that would mean a series win for England, it would also be a disappointing way to end the series considering the sacrifices both teams have made.
