England v Pakistan 1st Test Prediction & Tips: England’s Top Bowler (1st Innings)

England regained the Wisden Trophy with a 2-1 Test series over West Indies earlier this summer with all eyes fixed firmly on Stuart Broad. The Nottinghamshire pace bowler made history in the third Test at Old Trafford when he took his 500th Test wicket when he removed Kraigg Brathwaite – the same batsman James Anderson got out to claim his 500th Test wicket three years earlier. Broad and Anderson will go down as two of England’s greatest ever bowlers and we are expecting them to shine with the ball in Manchester. Broad was dropped for the 1st Test against West Indies but has since come back and made sure he will never be dropped again. He seems to be at his best when he is angry, well let’s hope for England’s sake that he stubs his toe before running in to bowl against Pakistan. We are backing Broad to be England’s leading wicket taker after hsi team has bowled first.

England v Pakistan 1st Test Prediction & Tips: Pakistan’s Top Batsman (1st Innings)

Pakistan will not be coming over to England for a nice little holiday, they want to knock over England and win the series. The Pakistan team will be led by captain Azhar Ali and he has named a strong squad with experienced duo Wahab Riaz and Sarfaraz Ahmed returning to the fold. Pakistan will have a strong batting line up when they take to the field at Old Trafford, and if England don’t take quick wickets then they could be in trouble. We have highlighted Imam-ul-Haq as the danger man for the tourists, he is only 24 years of age, but he has already contributed to 485 runs in 11 Test matches. His highest score was 76 against Australia back in 2018, and although he has failed to get past 50 since December 2018, we are expecting him to find his form and be Pakistan’s leading runs scorer in the first innings.

England v Pakistan 1st Test Prediction & Tips: Match Winner

The first Test of a series can sometimes be like a chess match. Both sides are feeling each other out and trying to come up with the right way to score runs or collect wickets. Also, the weather in England can be so unpredictable, it is very unlikely we will get a full five days of play even in the middle of summer. On paper, England are definitely the better team, but Pakistan will stick to their guns and attempt to frustrate the hosts at any given opportunity. Batting first on the Old Trafford pitch is crucial, whoever takes to the crease first will need to put on a decent score. We believe that will happen and both sets of batsman will be on top form and difficult to get out, ensuring the opening Test of this three-match series will end in a draw.
