Women's World Cup Betting Tips & Predictions
Australia Women v England Women (Sunday, 02:00 BST)
England women are one win away from retaining their ICC World Cup title.
Standing in their way are undefeated Australia. One thing for sure is, this will be an absolute thriller of a contest.
Australia have set the standard from the word go. They ended the group stages on top with 14 points having won all seven matches.
They booked their place in the final thanks to a 157-run win over the West Indies in a game reduced to 45 overs.
For England to be in the final is a massive achievement. They were in all sorts of trouble early on as they lost their opening three matches. They went on a four-game winning run to finish third overall.
They got revenge on South Africa – one of the teams that beat them – as they recorded a 137-run success to set up this final.
These two have already met in the tournament. It was both team’s first game with the Aussies claiming a 12-run victory.
Australia scored over 300 runs in that game with Rachael Haynes scoring 130 runs from 131 balls. England refused to lie down, and although they couldn’t get past 300, they put up a brave fight.
It’s safe to say that both Australia and England have improved as the tournament has progressed. Australia have looked unbeatable, but they will be beaten.
England know they could already be at home, and I feel they will not waste their second chance. I am backing England to be the first team to beat Australia and remain as champions of the world.
In England’s semi-final against South Africa, I stated that if they removed Laura Wolvaardt then they could win comfortably. She got a duck and England won by a landslide.
This will be a little bit more difficult. If England are lucky enough to get Hynes, Alyssa Healy and Meg Lanning cheaply then they have a great chance of winning.
That is easier said than done. I am backing Healy to add to the 339 runs she has already scored. Australia have three players who have scored over 300 runs – and I have mentioned them all – so that’s why it is important they get them all cheaply.
England have plenty of matchwinners themselves. Nat Sciver, Sophia Dunkley, Danni Wyatt and Tammy Beaumont have all scored over 250 runs each.
If all four of them can get scores, then England will win this comfortably. I am backing Sciver to add to her 288 runs and guide her side to victory and World Cup glory.
