Caribbean Premier League Final Predictions & Tips: Trinbago Knight Riders v St Lucia Zouks (Thursday 15:00 BST)

It is no surprise that Trinbago Knight Riders have reached the Final of the 2020 Caribbean Premier League after being so dominant throughout, although I didn’t expect their opponents to be the St Lucia Zouks.

The Knight Riders have swept past everyone that has been put before them, they made it 11 straight wins on Tuesday with a nine-wicket destruction of the Jamaica Tallawahs

Trinbago won the toss and put the Tallawahs into bat and they showed no mercy. They reduced Jamaica to 107-7 off 20 overs, with Akeal Hosein the pick of the bowlers with figures of 3-14, while Khary Pierre took two victims with Sunil Narine and Fawad Ahmed chipping in with one each.

In reply, the Knight Riders knocked off their total with five overs remaining for the loss of one wicket. Narine was dismissed for just four, but Lendl Simmons – who I backed to be Trinbago’s top scorer – led the way with an unbeaten 54, and he was well supported by Tion Webster who was unbeaten with 44 from 43 balls.

Many people, myself included, expected Guyana Amazon Warriors to be Trinbago’s opponents in Thursday’s final, but they left their worst performance of the season for their most important game.

St Lucia won the toss and decided to bowl, and it ended up being a wise decision. They bowled out the Warriors for just 55 after only 13.4 overs as Scott Kuggeleijn, Roston Chase, Zahir Kahan and Mark Deyal all collected two wickets apiece, with Mohammad Nabi and Javelle Glenn claiming one each.

Trinbago have recorded two wins over St Lucia this season and seeing as I had tipped the Knight Riders to win the tournament before it started, I wouldn’t feel right betting against them now. The Knight Riders will win this one quite comfortably, with Lendl Simmons once again top scoring. Simmons has been in fine form this season, he is second on the leading runs list with 272 and a decent hit out will see him overtake Jamaica’s Glenn Phillips at the top of the leaderboard.
