Big Bash League Predictions & Tips: Brisbane Heat v Adelaide Strikers (Friday 08:15 GMT)

Brisbane Heat and Adelaide Strikers lock horns in the Big Bash League Eliminator on Friday with the winner advancing to the knockout tie with the loser going home. Brisbane managed to secure a place in the play-offs with victory over Perth Scorchers and Hobart Hurricanes losing to Melbourne Renegades. The Heat were put into bat and made 181-7 with captain Chris Lynn top scoring with 51 from 25 balls, while Australian international Marnus Labuschagne contributed with 46. In reply, the Scorchers could only reach 175-6 from their 20 overs with Labuschagne backing up with the ball by taking figures of 3-35. Adelaide’s final game of the weekly rounds saw them crash to a nine-wicket loss at the hands of Sydney Thunder in a rain-affected match. Adelaide batted first and made 115-4 off 14 overs with Jake Weatherald top scoring with an unbeaten 80 from 47 deliveries. Thunder managed to knock that total off with 1.5 overs left to bowl as Alex Hales (63 not out) and Callum Ferguson (46 not out) guided them home. It looks like Brisbane got into the play-offs through the back door, so I am backing the Strikers to advance and face Sydney Thunder in the knockout tie. Weatherald has performed well for the Strikers at the top of the order, he has scored 401 runs this season and I am backing him to top score once again. With ball in hand, Wes Agar has been consistent with 21 wickets already under his belt, I expect him to cause Brisbane a whole host of problems and collect the most victims.

Big Bash League Predictions & Tips: Sydney Sixers v Perth Scorchers (Saturday 08:15 GMT)

Sydney Sixers and Perth Scorchers will battle it out for a place in the Big Bash League when they lock horns at the Manuka Oval in Canberra on Saturday. Defending champions Sydney Sixers finished top of the pile after the weekly rounds with 36 points thanks to nine wins from 14, while the Scorchers finished in second place just four points behind. The Sixers come into this qualifier with a five-wicket success over Melbourne Stars. The Sixers won the toss and decided to bowl first, restricting the Stars to 177-6 with Ben Dwarshuis claiming figures of 3-27 off four overs. In reply, they knocked off that total with one ball remaining as Daniel Christian top scored with an unbeaten 49, while James Vince contributed with 46 from 32 deliveries. The Scorchers were beaten by Brisbane Heat in their last game as the Heat needed that success to qualify for the play-offs. Brisbane were put into bat and they made 181-7 with Jason Behrendorff and Andrew Tye claiming two wickets apiece for the Scorchers. Perth fell agonisingly short as they reached 175-6 off their 20 overs with Mitchell Marsh top scoring with 54 not out. The Sixers are defending champions and will be looking to reach the final at the first attempt, and I am backing them to do just that. England international James Vince has scored 244 runs this season, and I am backing him to extend that total with the most runs for Sydney. With ball in hand, Dwarshuis has taken 19 wickets from 10 matches and I am expecting him to add a few more wickets to that total by the end of this game on Saturday.
