Bangladesh v Zimbabwe Preview: 2nd T20 Predictions & Betting Tips

Wednesday, March 11 – 12:00 GMT – Shere Bangla National Stadium, Mirpur, Dhaka

Bangladesh took a 1-0 lead in their two-game Twenty20 series against Zimbabwe with Soumya Sarkar and Liton Das leading the way with the bat.

This has not been a great tour for Zimbabwe. They drew with a Bangladesh Cricket Board XI to open up the tour, before losing their only Test match and then going down 3-0 in the One Day International series.

They went into the T20 series looking to salvage something from the tour, but they failed to do that. They won the toss and put the hosts in to bat.

Bangladesh didn’t need to be asked twice as openers Tamim Iqbal and Das put on 92 for the first wicket, before the former was removed by Wesley Madhevere. Das continued to shine with the bat and he was well supported by the next man in – Sarkar.

Das eventually fell for 59 from 39 balls as he hit five fours and three sixes before being trapped LBW by Sikandar Raza. Sarkar was impossible to get out as he remained unbeaten on 62 from 32 deliveries, hitting five maximums and four fours as the hosts ended their 20 overs on 200/3.

It was always going to be an uphill task for a Zimbabwe team that looks low on confidence. They lost their first wicket inside two overs when Brendan Taylor fell to Shafiul Islam as he was caught by Sarkar.

Things went from bad worse as they lost their remaining nine wickets for 141 runs as they fell 48 runs shy of their total. Tinashe Kamunhukamwe top scored for Zimbabwe with just 28, while Carl Mumba, Donald Tiripano, Richmond Mutumbami, Raza and Sean Williams all made double figures.

Mustafizur Rahman and Aminul Islam were the pick of the bowlers for Bangladesh with figures of 3-32 and 3-34 off their respective overs, while special mention must go to Das who collected three catches – as he helped remove Kamunhukamwe, Mutumbami and Mumba.

Bangladesh will be looking to ensure Zimbabwe go back home without registering a single victory on this tour. You have to give credit to the hosts, they have been dominant in all their matches and shown a killer instinct to get the job done. They are improving rapidly in the limited overs game and we expect them to wrap up another series triumph.

Bangladesh have plenty of top-quality batsmen to choose from, their openers have set the standard in recent games and I’m sticking with them by backing Liton Das to be Bangladesh’s top scorer on Wednesday.

If Bangladesh bat first, get on them to score over 168.5 runs and register the most sixes. It’s probably safer to bet on these after the toss because if Zimbabwe bat first, then Bangladesh might not even have to chase that amount down.
