New Zealand v Australia T20 World Cup Final Betting Tips & Predictions (Sunday 14:00 GMT)
The T20 World Cup Final takes place at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium on Sunday. Being honest, I am disappointed with the final participants, although they fully deserve to be there. I wanted an England versus Pakistan Final, but they failed to get the job done in the semi-finals. Heading into the final four matches, England and Pakistan were clear favourites after being the best two teams in the tournament. Well, we all know you cannot write off New Zealand and Australia and they will battle it out to be crowned world champions. The Black Caps won the toss and put England into bat. The Three Lions went on to post 166-4 with Moeen Ali smashing an unbeaten 51 from 37 deliveries, while Dawid Malan contributed with 41 from 30 balls. That total looked a little light, and it proved to be just that as New Zealand got home with one over to spare. Opener Daryl Mitchell was the hero with 72 not out with four fours and four maximums. Devon Conway was also instrumental in the win with 46 from 38 balls. Australia won the toss and elected to bowl first. Pakistan went on to post a competitive 176-4 with opener Mohammad Rizwan top-scoring with 67 from 52 balls, while Fakhar Zaman blasted four sixes on his way to an unbeaten 55. It would need a lot of skill and heart to reach that total, and Australia managed it with six balls remaining. David Warner got the ball rolling with 49 – he probably should have reviewed his dismissal as replays showed he didn’t get his bat to it. It didn’t matter in the end as Marcus Stoinis (40 not out) and Matthew Wade (41 not out) steered them home with the latter smashing three successive sixes to seal the victory. It hurts me to write this, but I am backing Australia to win this tournament. You can never write the Aussies off. I just think they have the edge when it comes to bowling at the depth with Adam Zampa almost unplayable in that semi-final win. I am backing David Warner to top-score for Australia with bat in hand to add to the 236 runs he has already scored. New Zealand will have a chance if their top-order performs. I am backing Martin Guptill to keep his head and add to the 180 runs he has already posted and top score for the Black Caps.
