Women's World Cup Volleyball live streaming - 12 teams competing for glory and Olympic qualification

The 2015 FIVB Women's Volleyball World Cup gets underway in Japan on Saturday where the 12 top nations on the planet will compete for glory.

The competition, which is held every four years, runs from August 22 through to September 6 and represents an opportunity for the victors to not only be crowned World Champions, but also secure a qualifying spot at next year's Olympic Games in Rio.

Two teams per gender will join hosts Brazil at the much-anticipated tournament at next summer's Games following the tournament at what represents the climax of this year's international volleyball season.

The 12 teams will play 66 matches in at the event with the first round featuring a total of 30 matches and taking place over the course of five days. 

In the second and third rounds, teams play three sides they haven't come up against previously over six days and 36 matches. 

Teams have been divided into two pools of six teams and hosts Japan are the top seeds in Pool A in Tokyo, where they have been drawn along side Dominican Republic, Russia, Argentina, Kenya and Cuba. 

USA and China are the leading contenders in Pool B, which also includes Korea, Serbia, Peru and Algeria. The matches in the second group will take place in Matsumoto.

World champions and newly-crowned FIVB World Grand Prix winners USA and World Championship silver medallists China face off in an eagerly anticipate encounter on August 24. 

The States came out on top 3-1 in the final of last year's FIVB Volleyball Women's World Championship, whilst China came out on top in their preliminary-round clash in this year's World Grand Prix, though eventual winners USA hit back in the Finals in Omaha.

Japan has hosted the FIVB Volleyball World Cup since 1977 and it has gone on to become the second-most prestigious tournament in the volleyball calendar behind the FIVB Volleyball World Championships.
