The Parken Stadium in Copenhagen is the venue for the semifinal encounter between Italy and Bulgaria in the CEV European Championship on Saturday.

The Italians came back from a set down to beat Finland 23-25 25-20 25-22 25-22 in yesterday's quarterfinal at the NRGi Arena in Aarhus.

Ivan Zaytsev fired 18 points while Luca Vettori added 17 to lead the reigning Olympic and World League bronze medalists.

Others who stepped up were Emanuele Birarelli and Thomas Beretta, who tallied 14 points apiece.

"I am very happy, that we are now in the Final Four in Copenhagen. That has been our goal right from the beginning," Italy head coach Mauro Berruto said.

"I really think that the guys played together as a team today. Now I hope that many Italian fans will come to Copenhagen and Parken to support the team."

The Bulgarians also overcame an early setback to eliminate erstwhile unbeaten Germany 28-30 27-25 25-22 25-20 in their quarterfinal showdown at the Ergo Arena in Gdansk.

Tseven Sokolov lived up to his top billing as the hard-hitting spiker delivered 29 points. Viktor Yosifov backed him up with 16 points.

"We had played very well during the previous game against Germany," Bulgaria head coach Camillo Placi said.

"And today we played good enough to win, but not as good as last time."

Bulgaria returned to the final four of the EuroVolley since winning a bronze medal in the 2009 edition of the biennial event.

The winner of the Italy-Bulgaria duel will play either Serbia or Russia in Sunday's final.
