UFC Fight Night Gdansk predictions for Saturday, October 21. Can Liverpool’s Darren Till record the biggest win of his professional MMA career by beating Donald Cerrone in Poland? Read on for all of our free predictions and betting tips for UFC Fight Night.

Donald Cerrone v Darren Till

2017 has not been a good year for Donald Cerrone, who has seen his winning run in the welterweight ranks come to an end with back-to-back defeats. ‘Cowboy’ stepped up to 170lbs after losing a lightweight title fight in December 2015, and he made an excellent start to life in his new division by reeling off four straight stoppage wins in 2016, beating Alex Oliveira, Patrick Cote, Rick Story and Matt Brown in impressive fashion to climb the ladder.

However, that fine run of form was brought to a shuddering halt when he was knocked out by Jorge Masvidal back in January, and he was unable to get back to winning ways in July when he took on former welterweight champion Robbie Lawler, losing via unanimous decision. It goes without saying he needs a victory in Poland, but he has accepted a fight that carries a massive risk but very little in the way of a reward.

Darren Till has declared himself the best striker in the welterweight division after winning three of his first four fights inside the Octagon, drawing the other, but it would not be unfair to say that the Liverpudlian has not fought anyone of note while compiling his 16-0-1 record. Yes he is a talented Muay Thai fighter, but Cerrone is too and he has a better all-round game than his opponent.

‘Cowboy’ is the type of fighter who will happily try to stand with Till here, but ultimately he should look to take this fight to the mat where he will have a massive advantage. 16 of his 32 professional victories have come via submission and when he gets the Liverpudlian to the canvas in Poland, Cerrone will make him the 17th opponent to tap out.

Karolina Kowalkiewicz v Jodie Esquibel

Karolina Kowalkiewicz is enduring her worst run as a professional fighter, having suffered back-to-back defeats for the first time in her career, but this is not the time to start worrying about the Polish fighter’s future. Those defeats have come against two of the strawweight division’s elite – Claudia Gadelha and champion Joanna Jedrzejczyk – and Jodie Esquibel does not fit in that bracket having gone 6-2 prior to arriving in the UFC. Kowalkiewicz should dominate this contest but is likely to need the nod from the judges after three rounds – she is not known for stopping opponents.

Jan Blachowicz v Devin Clark

Jan Blachowicz’s UFC record does not make for pretty reading – he is 2-4 – but all four of his defeats have come against top-10 ranked fighters and he has gone the distance with the likes of Alexander Gustaffson and Jimi Manuwa. Devin Clark – who is 2-1 in the UFC – is clearly seen as a prospect in the light-heavyweight division and he does come into the bout having won back-to-back fights. However, those wins have come against low-level opposition and despite Blachowicz’s recent run he is a significant step up in quality. I am not sure Clark is ready for that yet, so I am backing the Polish fighter to delight his home crowd by returning to winning ways.
