Second round action finishes up at Wimbledon on Thursday and we’ve picked out our three best bets of the day.

Jan-Lennard Struff to beat Taylor Fritz at 13/10 @ William Hill

I think this is a 50-50 match-up, so Struff represents great value here. Fritz and Struff have quietly been two of the ATP’s biggest improvers this season, and honestly, this clash wouldn’t look out of place in the Round of 16 with the way both are playing at the moment, or how the draw is playing out in some sections.

Fritz is riding a six-match winning streak after winning his maiden ATP title in Eastbourne last week and beating former Wimbledon finalist Tomas Berdych in the first round, while the hard-hitting Struff has improved his consistency significantly in 2019, notching up several impressive wins, making the fourth round of a slam for the first time at Roland Garros and making the semi-finals on grass in Stuttgart in the lead-up to Wimbledon, while he also eased past Delray Beach champion Radu Albot in straight sets in the opening round.

This should be a great match - and I’m backing the powerful Struff to come out on top.

Steve Johnson to beat Alex de Minaur at 6/5 @ Betfair

Johnson and de Minaur have both struggled for various reasons this season, but again, there’s some solid value in the American to emerge victorious in this one. Johnson is deceptively strong on grass, has won a couple of ATP titles on the surface and has advanced to the fourth round of Wimbledon before, while he looked good in a straight sets dispatch of Albert Ramos-Vinolas in his opening round.

De Minaur started the year strongly by winning the Sydney International and making the third round of the Australian Open, but he’s been struck down by injuries since then and hasn’t been able to string any sort of consistent good form together. The Aussie glided past Marco Cecchinato in straight sets in the opening round, but the Italian is far from his best on grass. De Minaur is still yet to beat a top 20 player, and while Johnson has slid down the rankings over the last 12 months, he has the weapons - namely a big serve and forehand - to make life difficult for the diminutive de Minaur on grass.

Alison Riske to beat Ivana Jorovic in straight sets at 11/20 @ Unibet

Riske has got to be considered among the most dangerous unseeded players in the Wimbledon draw, and after overcoming Donna Vekic in three sets in the opening round, I expect the big-serving American to have a smoother passage into the third round on Thursday.

Riske has already lifted two trophies on grass this season, winning an ITF title before beating Kiki Bertens in the s-Hertogenbosch final, saving five championship points in the process. With her booming serve and powerful forehand, Riske is due a big run at Wimbledon, and this year could be her time. Jorovic meanwhile had never won a Grand Slam main draw match before her win over qualifier Lesley Kerkhove, and while she has some potential, I don’t see her being competitive in this one.
