Best Bets for Thursday April 27

Mark Selby v Ding Junhui - Over 5.5 total match centuries @ 11/10 with Bet365

Selby and Ding underlined their positions as two of the sport's most imperious break-builders during the latter stages of their impressive Quarter-Final triumphs on Wednesday.

Defending champion Selby twice set a new tournament high break with his efforts of 139 and 143 to follow on from an earlier 132, before Ronnie O'Sullivan eventually set the pace with a 146 later in the day.

Ding, meanwhile, also compiled a trio of centuries in his memorable victory over O'Sullivan, taking his tally for the tournament to nine.

In this best of 33 show-down which has the potential to go close, expect Selby and Ding to showcase more exceptional scoring power and deliver at least six century breaks between them in what promises to be an epic contest.

John Higgins -2.5 frames handicap @ EVS with Betway

Higgins has culminated a fine season of resurgence in style by reaching his first Crucible Semi-Final for six years but will be determined not to let that run come to an end at this stage of the competition.

The four-time World Champion takes on Barry Hawkins - a man appearing in his fourth Semi-Final here in his last five appearances, but having gone a step further on just one of those occasions.

He came through a cagey Quarter-Final clash with Stephen Maguire on Wednesday night and will almost certainly be required to raise his game if he is to live with the consistency of the Scot in all areas over this four-session format.

Current form points firmly in the direction of Higgins to stamp his authority on the tie and prevail by a minimum of a three-frame winning margin.

How to bet on the World Championship

Betting on the World Championship could not be simpler, with a range of pre-match, outright and in-play markets at your fingertips via the majority of leading sports bookmakers.

To place a bet on the World Championship, simply go to the home page of your chosen bookmaker on either the desktop site or mobile app and head to the A-Z sports menu.

From there, select Snooker > World Championship and locate the match or market you wish place a bet on. Outrights, match coupons for accumulators and in-play markets are then listed on the interface. Compile your bet by clicking on the odds which will then add it to your betslip.

On the betslip, you can then key in your stake and the type of bet you wish to place, for example, single, double, accumulator. Once your bet has been placed, keep an eye out for the cash-out option while your bets are still open, which is offered by most of the leading firms.

Markets offered on the World Championship

Typically, the top bookmakers for snooker in general including Bet365, Betfred and Coral are also the go-to firms for placing bets on the World Championship.

Main markets include match result - simply betting on which player will win the tie and frame handicaps - whereby a virtual advantage or disadvantage to either player is awarded in order to even the field, for example a +2.5 frames handicap bet would be for Player A or B to win the match if 3.5 frames were to be added to their final tally.

A two-way market for the total number of frames is a sensible bet if the contest appears too close to call on paper and is not reliant on either player to win. For example backing over 15.5 frames in a best of 19 match is covering the total number of frames being anything from 16 to the maximum of 19.

Punters can also bet on the number of centuries breaks in any given match, including a total number for either player or Player A or B to compile the most 100+ breaks. Significant odds of around 25/1 are often available for one player to produce snooker's holy grail - a maximum 147 break.

Other notable snooker betting markets include correct score for those with a precise prediction, as well as whether or not the match will go to a deciding frame.
