The World Open returns to Yushan this week for the annual World Open, and selected matches from each session are available to watch live on desktop or mobile devices.

Less than 48 hours after conclusion of the Indian Open, 71 players descend upon the Far East for the fifth ranking event of the season to battle it out for the top prize of £150,000.

Ali Carter is the reigning champion after beating Joe Perry 10-8 in a brilliant final 14 months ago. However, there will a new name on the trophy after the Captain decided not to defend his title this year, while Judd Trump failed to qualify after suffering a 5-0 thrashing against Sam Craigie in qualifying.

Nevertheless, there is still plenty of quality on display in the likes of World Champion Mark Selby, as well as home favourites Ding Junhui and Liang Wenbo – all of whom saw their qualifiers heldover to the main venue.

Recently crowned Indian Open champion John Higgins is the joint-most successful player in the history of the tournament – matching Stephen Hendry on four titles – while Neil Robertson and Mark Williams have each lifted the trophy on three occasions.

Mark Allen won two on the spin in 2012 and 2013 and is joined on his quest for a third crown by 2014 winner Shaun Murphy along with Marco Fu, who was victorious in 2007.

The other former champions in action this week are Peter Ebdon, who won in 1993, as well as 1997 winner Dominic Dale.

Elsewhere, Barry Hawkins is another of the world’s top players on display in Yushan, along with Stuart Bingham, Kyren Wilson, Luca Brecel and Ryan Day.

Last year’s finalist Perry will be aiming to go one step better as he looks to return to the top 16 – the same aim as that of the likes of Anthony McGill, Martin Gould, Stephen Maguire and Ricky Walden.

The tournament runs from September 18-24 in Yushan, China, with selected matches from each session available to watch live online in the UK and various other regions.
