Now entering its fifth staging, the event sees all frames timed for a maximum of ten minutes, with a shock clock in operation and  the player with the most points at the end of the clock declared the winner.

The lively sell-out crowd add a unique atmosphere in the stunning arena, which also hosted the World Seniors Championship earlier in the week.

Dominic Dale is the defending champion, but the largely unpredictable nature of the format means that any of the 64 players are capable of taking the title, with no player having reached the final on more than one occasion over the past four stagings.

This year's event sees five-time World Champion Ronnie O'Sullivan return to action alongside the likes of Judd Trump, John Higgins and World Champion Mark Selby.

A clutch of veteran stars including Jimmy White, Seniors Champion Mark Williams and Ken Doherty also feature, as well as a host of emerging talents such as Luca Brecel, Jamie Jones and Kyren Wilson, all vying for the £32,000 top prize.

Rules:
  • Every frame lasts for a maximum of 19 minutes.
  • There is a shot clock. For the first 5 minutes of the match, players have 15 seconds per shot, but for the last 5 minutes this is reduced to 10 seconds. Failure to ensure that the cue ball hits the object ball within the time allowed results in a 5 point penalty.
  • Players must hit a cushion or pot a ball with every shot.
  • All fouls result in ball in hand.
  • Players ‘lag’ for who breaks off.
  • In an event of a tie the blue ball shoot-out determines the winner. The blue ball is placed on its spot and the player can place the cue ball anywhere within the D before attempting to pot the blue.

The tournament runs from March 4-6 at the Tower Circus Arena in Blackpool, with all matches to be contested over the best of one frame.
