Forty-eight came earlier in the week, now just eight remain in the running for glory in the fifth staging of the unique invitational.

The Quarter-Finals and Semi-Finals are in the offing on another action-packed day at the Fashion Island Shopping Mall as the remaining hopefuls aim to book their place in Saturday's show-piece final.

Three home hopefuls remain standing in their bid to become the first Thai player ever to reach the final of this event, with Thepchaiya Un-Nooh and Boonyarit Kiattikul notably going head-to-head.

Un-Nooh progressed through Group G before going on to defeat World Champion Stuart Bingham and Grand Prix winner Judd Trump in superb style in the knock-out stages.

Boonyarit, a virtual unknown before a ball was potted this week, battled through Group B and has already seen off the likes of Michael Holt and Ryan Day en route to this stage.

2014 World Champion Mark Selby, winner here in 2010, steps up his quest for a second Six Reds crown with a clash against Chinese star Liang Wenbo.

Both Selby and Wenbo have lost just one of their seven matches so far this week and appear in fine fettle heading into their tasty last eight show-down.

Former Australian Open Champion Marco faces a tough test against the resurgent Matthew Selt - the world number 30 who reached his third consecutive Quarter-Final in Australia at the beginning of the season.

Fu, himself, made it to no less than six major televised Quarter-Finals last season but will be determined to surpass that stage here this weekend.

Another emerging Thai star - Noppon Saengkham - aims to pull off what would be a notable scalp by overcoming Players Championship winner Joe Perry.

23-year-old Saengkham reached the last eight here two years ago and has repeated the feat courtesy of a second place in Group E, before further wins over Jamie Rhys Clarke and Michael White.

World number nine Perry has dropped just two frames in knock-out victories over Ken Doherty and Anthony McGill and is aiming to advance beyond this stage of the competition for the first time.

The action gets underway at 5.00am BST, with Quarter-Final and Semi-Final matches to be contested over the best of 13 frames and the final best of 15 from the Fashion Island Shopping Mall in Bangkok, Thailand.
