Masters Snooker Day Six Tips

Judd Trump v Shaun Murphy (1pm)

Judd Trump aims to move a step closer to a maiden Masters title by dispatching 2015 champion Shaun Murphy in the Quarter-Finals on Friday afternoon.

Trump has reached the Semi-Finals at Ally Pally on two previous occasions (2012 and 2016), but after watching a number of his key rivals fall by the wayside, now finds himself as the new title favourite with the bookmakers.

Murphy kick-started his run with a 6-4 victory over Ali Carter, storming to the opening four frames before fending off a typically tenacious fightback from the two-time world finalist.

He has lost eight of his thirteen previous meetings with 'The Ace' since 2007, including an epic World Championship Quarter-Final in 2013 which saw Trump edge a thriller by 13 frames to 12.

On current form, their latest show-down looks set to be another close-run one, and with six of the ten matches contested so far this week having featured at least ten frames, don't be surprised to see this one follow suit.

John Higgins v Ryan Day (7pm)

John Higgins looks to remain in the running for a first Masters title in 12 years by ending the run of Ryan Day in the evening session.

Two-time Masters Champion Higgins has enjoyed a superb season so far, underlining his incredible longevity since turning professional back in 1992.

The veteran Scot has dominated the overall head-to-head against Day, winning ten of their 14 previous meetings, including a 10-3 rout in the 2016 World Championship.

Day, appearing in his first Masters since 2010, pulled off a shock scalp of Ding Junhui in Round One and will be eyeing another upset at Ally Pally tonight.

However, Higgins' superior all-round game and know-how in this arena should prove too strong for the Welshman, and the value looks to be with the four-time World Champion to settle quickly by winning the opening frame and going on to win the match.

How to bet on The Masters

Betting on The Masters could not be simpler, with a range of pre-match, outright and in-play markets at your fingertips via the majority of leading sports bookmakers.

To place a bet on The Masters, simply go to the home page of your chosen bookmaker on either the desktop site or mobile app and head to the A-Z sports menu.

From there, select Snooker > The Masters and locate the match or market you wish place a bet on. Outrights, match coupons for accumulators and in-play markets are then listed on the interface. Compile your bet by clicking on the odds which will then add it to your betslip.

On the bet slip, you can then key in your stake and the type of bet you wish to place, for example, single, double, accumulator. Once your bet has been placed, keep an eye out for the cash-out option while your bets are still open, which is offered by most of the leading firms.

Markets offered on The Masters

Typically, the top bookmakers for snooker in general, including Betfred, William Hill and Coral are also the go-to firms for placing bets on The Masters.

Main markets include match result - simply betting on which player will win the tie and frame handicaps - whereby a virtual advantage or disadvantage to either player is awarded in order to even the field, for example a +2.5 frames handicap bet would be for Player A or B to win the match if 2.5 frames were to be added to their final tally.

A two-way market for the total number of frames is a sensible bet if the contest appears too close to call on paper and is not reliant on either player to win. For example backing over 9.5 frames in a best of 11 match is covering the total number of frames amounting to either ten or eleven.

Punters can also bet on the number of centuries breaks in any given match, including a total number for either player or Player A or B to compile the most 100+ breaks. Significant odds of around 25/1 are often available for one player to produce snooker's holy grail - a maximum 147 break.

Other notable snooker betting markets include correct score for those with a precise prediction, as well as whether or not the match will go to a deciding frame.
