One of the most exciting and naturally gifted players on the tour, despite winning the invitational Championship League for a third time and securing a place in the 2016 Champion of Champions, Trump is yet to register a major success during the campaign.

'The Ace in the Pack' has still produced some brilliant snooker, but has generally peaked too soon in tournaments and this has resulted in earlier exits than he would like - most recently in the Last 16 of the Players Championship.

Trump finds himself back at the venue where he made his breakthrough on the circuit in 2011 - beating Mark Selby 10-8 to capture his first ranking trophy, before reaching the World Championship final the following month.

The Shanghai Masters finalist received a bye in the Last 64 after Stuart Carrington's withdrawal and will be hoping his freshness pays dividends, as he aims to build some momentum ahead of the Crucible.

Standing in his way is Robertson, who is vying for just his second appearance in the Last 16 of a major ranking event this term.

Ironically, his only previous run to this stage came in China at the International Championship, where he beat Masters finalist Barry Hawkins 6-4 before succumbing 6-3 to Marco Fu.

The world number 36 took out last year's Crucible Quarter-Finalist Anthony McGill 5-3 in the Last 64 here.

Sussex's Robertson made breaks of 89 and 81 on his way to taking a commanding 4-1 lead, but saw McGill claw his back to a single-frame deficit before finally getting himself over the line.

The winner will take on either Hong Kong ace Marco Fu or Robert Milkins in the Last 32.

Play gets underway at 7.30pm local time (12.30pm BST) on Wednesday, with the best of nine frames determining who progresses at the University Students Gymnasium in Beijing.
