Thirty-two of the world's top cueists will battle it out for $500,000 in prize money over seven days of action in the fifth staging of the event in Bendigo.

World number six Judd Trump returns to Bendigo as the defending champion following his 9-5 victory over home hero Neil Robertson in last year's final.

Former World Champion Robertson remains Australia's most successful snooker export of all time and is aiming to land the top prize on home turf after suffering back-to-back final defeats.

The pre-qualifying event at the beginning of June saw 128 players whittled down to just 16 in Crawley, with those successful qualifiers joining the top 16 seeds at the venue.

The tournament is one of the few remaining on the calendar to still operate under the old seeded draw format, as per its contractual agreements.

Reigning World Champion and winner here in 2011 - Stuart Bingham - is among the stars in action, as well as the likes of Mark Selby, Shaun Murphy and John Higgins.

Notable qualifiers include young gun Joel Walker, Welshman Jamie Jones and Hossein Vafaei Ayouri - who will become the first ever Iranian to feature in a world ranking competition.

All matches up to and including the Quarter-Finals are to be contested over the best of nine frames, with Semi-Finals best of 11 and the final best of 17.

The tournament runs from June 29 to July 5 at the Bendigo Stadium in Bendigo, Australia.
