The Black and Whites opened up their 2016 Super League campaign on February 5 with a convincing 42-20 success over Salford Red Devils with Leon Pryce, Mahe Fonua, Jordan Thompson, Fetuli Talanoa, Carlos Tuimavave, Josh Bowden, Jack Logan and Jamie Shaul all crossing for tries.

Lee Radford’s men proved it was no opening day fluke as they travelled to the South of France to face Catalans Dragons and came away with a 38-10 success against a team that only lost twice at home in the league all last season.

Castleford Tigers were denied two points in their opener away at Hull Kingston Rovers on February 7 as Italy international Josh Mantellato converted his try off the touchline to secure a 16-16 draw.

The Tigers did manage to get their first win of the season in round two when Denny Solomona and Oliver Holmes grabbed two tries each, while Ben Roberts, Luke Dorn and Adam Milner also crossed over in their 40-6 win over the Wakefield Trinity Wildcats at The Mend-A-Hose Jungle.

Hull have recruited well in the off-season with the likes of Fonua, Tuimavave, Scott Taylor, Sika Manu, Frank Pritchard and Danny Washbrook and they fully believe they can be a title contender this season - they can be backed at 10/1 with Betfred to win the Grand Final at Old Trafford.

The Tigers, on the other hand, have signed Ben Crooks, Joel Monaghan, Greg Minikin, Ryan Hampshire and Jy Hitchcox but are not really seen as a true title contender, they are on offer at 25/1 to win the Grand Final.

Hull FC versus Castleford Tigers takes place at the KC Stadium on Thursday, February 25 with a kick-off time of 2000 GMT. This game will be screened live on Sky Sports.
