Many people in and outside the sport believe international rugby league is dead in the water with Australia, New Zealand and England miles in front of the likes of Fiji, PNG, Tonga, Samoa, Wales, Scotland, France and Ireland.

Well on Saturday at the Cbus Super Stadium fans are in for a treat with a double header of international rugby league with Fiji against PNG and Samoa versus Tonga with some NRL stars on display.

Both Fiji and PNG are no mugs although they are not yet a driving force but a healthy crowd should witness two teams willing to put their bodies on the line to entertain the masses.

One NRL lining up for Fiji this weekend is St George Illawarra Dragons winger Eto Nabuli who has burst onto the scene this season and is worth the entrance fee alone.

Nabuli has been named in the 18-man squad and is fully expected to start in what would be his second appearance for his country of birth and he is itching to pull the jersey on.

He told the Dragons website: “I am so excited to be selected for the Fiji team and I will be trying my best on the field for them. This will be my second game for my country and it is always an honour to be chosen.

“I have not scored for Fiji before so I am hoping that will change against Papua New Guinea on the weekend. “We will have to wait and see.”

Papua New Guinea coach Mal Meninga has opted to go NRL heavy with his side with just five players in his 19-man squad on the books of NRL clubs.
