Canberra Raiders NRL season betting preview

The Raiders are capable of a top four finish during 2011

The off-season saw Canberra Raiders hit the headlines for not so flattering reasons which eventually saw them sack one of their promising stars.

Australian international Joel Monaghan was sacked by the Raiders after being photographed simulating a sex act with a dog during the club’s Mad Monday celebrations – the winger has since resurrected his career in Super League with the Warrington Wolves.

Under coach David Furner the Green Machine have a wealth of talent and with the inspirational Matt Orford signing from Bradford Bulls he is the kind of leader that can see the good times return at Canberra.

As well as Orford the Raiders have secured the services of Blake Ferguson and Brett White, but they have lost Joel Monaghan, Scott Logan, Adam Mogg, Marc Herbert, Justin Carney and Troy Thompson.

BettingPress have tipped the Raiders for a top four finish on a hunch that Orford will be the marquee signing that club is dying out for.

The Raiders can be backed at 15.00A$ with Luxbet to win the NRL Grand Final, while they can be backed at 16.00 to clinch the Minor Premiership.

Prediction – League Position fourth, Early play-off exit
