Get our best bets for the 3rd round of games in the Rugby Championship including Australia vs New Zealand and Argentina vs South Africa.

Australia vs New Zealand - Saturday, 10:45 BST

New Zealand are yet to really get going at the current Rugby Championship as they have snuck to results twice over. First, a 20-16 victory over Argentina got their campaign off to a shaky but winning start before they were then held to a 16-16 draw with South Africa in a thrilling encounter that displayed that the gap between South Africa and the top sides is shrinking, while it revealed that the All Blacks are not as invincible as they seem to be with the World Cup perhaps coming at the wrong time for the currently misfiring side. For Australia though, despite New Zealand’s apparent struggles, this is not a good time for them to face the All Blacks. A 16-10 win over Argentina in Australia should not distract from their awful form with wins over Argentina and Italy adorning a list of defeats, with three in their last five against South Africa, England and Wales, with the losses to the Springboks and the Red Rose coming in convincing 35-17 and 37-18 scorelines respectively. Although New Zealand have not looked at their best, they are a lot stronger than the Aussies, and we think that all it will take is an early try for the Wallabies to be well on the back-foot and almost immediately out of the game. We are not predicting a romp in this one, but we do think it will be comfortable for New Zealand, with the All Blacks wining both halves against an Australia side that is in no kind of form.

Argentina vs South Africa - Saturday, 20:40 BST

Argentina come into this one looking to build upon their incredibly impressive 32-19 win over South Africa last year but knowing they face a very different beast to the one they tamed this time last year. The Pumas are currently without a win in their last eight and, despite losing by just four points to New Zealand and six to Australia in their last two games, they will know better than anyone that close does not cut it, with this run of defeats seeing them edge closer to the World Cup in horrible form. South Africa meanwhile have really impressed us of late, with a string of impressive performances seeing them lose just one of their last five matches. Wins over France, Scotland and Australia along with a draw against world champions New Zealand is a strong record, while their sole loss came at the hands of current Grand Slam champions Wales at the backend of 2018. With just a single match in the championship to go, South Africa have genuine aspirations of winning the title ahead of New Zealand, and they know that their fate is firmly in their own hands going into their clash with Argentina. With this in mind, we are backing the Sprinboks to win the game by a margin of 1-12 points, with the outfit looking more like the top side they once were.
