Wednesday 5 December horse racing tips - George's evens chance set to put Bite on Haydock rivals

Brian Healy gives his race-by-race selections and best bets across all of Wednesday's scheduled horse racing meetings.

Following a couple of relatively low-key days the action cranks up a notch for Wednesday’s fixture list, and there is afternoon jumps racing from the cards at Ludlow and Haydock, whilst on the all-weather there is a card on the Lingfield polytrack.

Meanwhile, in the evening there are further fixtures under the floodlights at Kempton on polytrack where there is Listed action on the card, and also Newcastle on tapeta.

Lingfield (flat, aw) - 11.30 -3.10pm (8 races)
Ludlow (jumps) - 12.10 -3.20pm (7 races)
Haydock (jumps) - 12.20 - 3.30pm (7 races)
Kempton (flat, aw) - 3.55 - 7.30pm (8 races)
Newcastle (flat, aw) - 5.15 - 7.45pm (6 races)

(12.30) SILCA MISTRESS (9/4, Ladbrokes) has been in good form in 2018, winning twice on turf during the summer, and Clive Cox’s charge returned from a short break after disappointing at Windsor in September to resume winning ways here last month.

The Dutch Art filly had a half-length to spare at the line, beating Human Nature, and back up in trip for this outing she can defy a 2lbs rise in the weights which doesn’t look too harsh.

Likely to be even sharper with that recent run under her belt following her break, and with the potential for better still to come, she gets the vote to follow up.

Toast Of New York is the star turn on Lingfield's Wednesday racecard.

(2.40) LIBERISQUE (10/3, Paddy Power) had been in good form prior to a rare lesser effort last time out at Chelmsford; but Ed de Giles’ charge can bounce back here.

The Equiano filly had hit the crossbar on three visits to Wolverhampton in September and October, but she got off the mark when successful upped in trip at Chelmsford later in October when beating Guardiola.

Possibly guilty of doing too much too soon, she goes further in trip for this latest outing which isn’t guaranteed to suit; but her stamina could be worth chancing, and she can remain competitive.

11.30 - Global Humor
12.00 - Valley Belle
12.30 - Silca Mistress
1.00 - Toast Of New York
1.35 - Cantiniere
2.05 - Vanity Vanity
2.40 - Liberisque
3.10 - Mizen Master

(12.40) ORTENZIA (8/1, William Hill) could be worth chancing to get back to winning ways having struck at Bangor on her chase debut with a defeat of Ballyantics.

Charlie Longsdon’s Lawman filly subsequently finished third of five runners at Fontwell later the same month where she wasn’t seen to best effect off a steady pace, and she found herself outpaced before rallying.

An early casualty in her latest outing at Plumpton, unseating at the fourth fence, the handicapper has eased her 2lbs in the weights ahead of this contest and she could still have more to offer over fences. Forgiven her mishap latest, she can get back on the winning trail here.

(1.10) FLORAL BOUQUET (4/1, Coral) improved for a wind operation to win her first two starts of the spring, scoring wins here and at Perth prior to falling at Ffos Las.

Jamie Snoweden’s charge shaped well enough despite finishing well-beaten at Fakenham on her return to action in October behind Movie Legend; but the Fair Mix mare should appreciate this return to a lesser trip and she can build on that reappearance to get back on the scoresheet following further wind surgery.

She looks fairly weighted ahead of her handicap debut for her in-form yard, and no surprise to see her post a big run here.

12.10 - Let’s Sway
12.40 - Ortenzia
1.10 - Floral Bouquet
1.45 - Sumkindofking
2.15 - Theclockisticking
2.50 - Stop Talking
3.20 - Misty Whisky

(12.50) Runner-up between the flags for Colin Bowe, NEWTIDE (2/1, Paddy Power) made a pleasing debut for Kim Bailey at Chepstow last month, and with that experience under his belt the Getaway gelding can get off the mark.

He finished fourth on that occasion, beaten around 15 lengths behind Deise Aba in what was his first run for more than 18 months, and he is likely to strip fitter for that return to action.

With a longer trip and better ground to contend with for this latest outing, he can improve on that initial run and it would be no surprise to see him going close here with the potential for better to come.

(1.55) THE BIG BITE (Evens, Coral) proved himself to be a very useful performer in bumpers, winning his first two before being thrust into the Champion Bumper at the Cheltenham Festival back in March where he finished in midfield.

Tom George’s Scorpion gelding made a winning return to action following eight months off the track when beating Jammy George by five lengths on his hurdling debut at Chepstow, and likely to improve for that experience he could follow up here.

He won cosily that day, overcoming a late mistake, and he rates an exciting prospect. While he has a penalty to carry here, he could be up to the task of scoring back-to-back wins.

12.20 - Quri
12.50 - Newtide
1.20 - Mister Whipped
1.55 - The Big Bite
2.25 - Idilico
3.00 - Absolutely Dylan
3.30 - Tower View

Mr Whipped bids to get off the mark over fences at Haydock on Wednesday.

(4.30) AL MESSILA (2/1, Paddy Power) has made the frame on each of her two starts to date, and the Toronado filly can make it third time lucky here.

Richard Hannon’s charge stepped up on a debut third at Chelmsford in November to find only Inhale too good over this course later in the month, going down by just over two lengths.

She has shown enough speed in those two runs to suggest she can cope with the drop back to six furlongs, and she sets the standard on form to date; she can find further improvement to open her account.

(5.30) SUN HAT (5/4, Ladbrokes) has racked up a quick hat-trick since returning from ten months off the track and wind surgery, and John Gosden’s charge can find further improvement to score again.

The Helmet filly has struck at Newcastle, Wolverhampton and Lingfield this term, and while none of those wins have been by far she could still have more to offer.

She latterly had a head to spare over Rampant Lion on her handicap debut, and with that form subsequently franked by the runner-up scoring since she could defy a 3lbs rise in the weights to follow up here.

3.55 - Turquoise Friendly
4.30 - Al Messila
5.00 - Reticent Angel
5.30 - Sun Hat
6.00 - Eljaddaaf
6.30 - Architecture
7.00 - Magic Mirror
7.30 - Papa Delta

(6.45) FALSE ID (7/2, Ladbrokes) spoilt his chances of a win on Saturday at Wolverhampton when missing the break and never getting involved, but the Aqlaam gelding could be worth giving another chance to get back on the winning trail having won the time before that latest effort.

David Loughnane’s charge had struck over course and distance with a defeat of Nutopia, again slowly away but able to overcome his tardy start; and he has also finished runner-up here when going close behind Mossy’s Lodge at the beginning of November.

Turned out again quickly following that disappointment, he has the services of a top 5lbs claimer for this outing, and if getting away to a better start then he can gain compensation here.

Newcastle are racing on Wednesday evening.

(8.15) NOVABRIDGE (12/1, William Hill) has won four times over course and distance, and the Avonbridge gelding could be worth chancing to get back to winning ways.

A winner here in May, Karen Tutty’s charge finished third on his return from a six-month break back here in November, and subsequent back-to-back fifth placed finishes cane at Southwell, including going down only by one length behind Piazon.

Racing off the same mark here, his chances are boosted by a good 5lbs claimer in the saddle, and he can give a good account back over this course and distance.

5.15 - Zodiakos
5.45 - Almashriq
6.15 - I Am Dandy
6.45 - False ID
7.15 - Nick Vedder
7.45 - Dandy Highwayman
8.15 - Novabridge
